Low 3* guy out of HS, from McCook. Walk-on?

Eh, I wouldn't call him a statue, he did have decent sense for when to take off and scramble for a few yards. It's just that he was really slow when he did. I remember laughing and cheering when he'd scramble: "Look at him go!" :laughpound

Well, being able to scramble for a few yards made him the next Michael Vick in Riley's eyes.

I assume we dont need him this year, so no need for a waiver?

More depth but overall this is a low risk/medium reward---adds depth?

Yeah, sounds like he probably sits this year then has three years to play.

We need depth at LB anyway we can get it.

Kid was a wrecking ball and total gamer at McCook.  IIRC his brother or other relative went out to CSU and was a pretty good player for them.  The above linked Coloradoan article mentioned that he had some offers for Ivy League schools so he's obviously a pretty bright kid.

I saw this in Husker Corner. He will be available in 2020, and he is a 6-1 211 linebacker. Small but supposed to have good speed. All I know. (Please edit this the correct way the other ones are.)

Not sure this is the best place for it? If we did want to make a profile, we'd want to move to 2019. He's transferring immediately (2019) and would be in that class. He'd have to sit out a year, yes.

Looks like the kind of walk-on that Nebraska wants to add depth, quality and competition, keep the scholarship guys working hard because they may end getting bumped on the depth chart is they try to coast.

Nice addition to the roster. Special team warrior with the potential to push for a starting roll at position of need in the near future. Not to mention he must bleed Husker red to pass up a full ride at CSU.

Walk-on - if there's a time to say zero risk, this is it. Win win for everybody.

Nice.  As someone earlier mentioned, his only scholly offer was from Harvard.  Probably safe to assume he's kinda smrt.

I stand corrected.  Offers from Cornell, Harvard, North Dakota State, South Dakota and South Dakota State.  Interest from Kansas State, Missouri and Nebraska.

Nice addition. After sitting 2019 will he have 3 years of eligibility left or 2?

Schlager graduated high school in 2018, so his 5 year clock would have started Fall of 2018.  He should have 3 years of eligibility left, starting in 2020.

I'm hearing that Schlager is going to request a NCAA waiver to play this year and not sit out a season--something about a recruiting bait-and-switch (read: the position coach and Defensive Coordinator that recruited him were replaced after Schlager signed) by the CSU Defensive coaching staff?

Is this legit, or just some sock bulls***?

It's as good of a reason for a waiver as some the NCAA has approved recently. IDK if it's just sock BS or not though.

My thoughts exactly, but again, I dunno if it's bulls*** or legit.
