I think that’s a highly unlikely scenario, and “wrongly charged” and “trumped up charges” aren’t a matter of fact, but opinion.

I think it’s best for all parties involved if he sits (while remaining on the team) until the case is closed. It protects the optics on the program, staff and the person and maybe even delivers a lesson about having things like that on your phone

Given the fact that Frost has said that University officials will be involved in any punishment, I think Mo will be suspended for the first game, with the hope that the charges will be resolved at the next hearing next week.  If there isn't a resolution next week, I think the appropriate decision is to reinstate Mo until there is a resolution with the case.  I know the charges against Mo are quite serious, but the University and team can say "we have punished Mo based on the current status of the trial and his conduct, we think it's fair that he is able to rejoin the team until his charges are resolved."

Hopefully you don't feel like people are piling onto your comments here but you have to kind of zoom out here. The court case could drag on into the new year. He's innocent until proven guilty or until he pleads guilty (which he hasn't done yet if I have my facts straight).

Jameis Winston and Cam Newton played all year with pending cases. Maurice won't start but will play Saturday IMO

Great points about Winston and Newton.  I won't be surprised whatever happens to Mo this Saturday.  I'm expecting him to be suspended (just a hunch), but I wouldn't be surprised if he plays.

First it was a hypothetical. Second, the child porn charge, which is the felony, is a trumped up charge. Its being used for plea bargaining purposes. The purpose and intent behind the statute is to protect children from being taken advantage of in a multitude of ways - not to prosecute high school students for having dirty pics/vids of ex-gfs/bfs.

A high schooler having those type of videos of exes in possession of a minor in a situation that fits child pornography. Just because he’s a running back that you’d like on the team doesn’t change that.

And if it’s only there for a plea bargain, then do it already.

I get why people are piling on.

If the court case drags, well then in my opinion it’s just too damn bad for Mo. There have been chances for this to be over, and consequences exist.

I understand hes talented but I have questions if the the juice is worth the squeeze, especially considering the odds are decent he might get into trouble again.

Anyway, this is cluttering up a depth chart thread and I’ve said my piece on the matter.

You clearly have never dealt with the legal system and have no idea what you're talking about.

This is an incorrect statement. He nor his lawyers can do anything to speed up the process.

From an espn article in February:

Court papers described futile attempts by a California detective and Sexton to arrange an interview with Washington through Vaughn and Bruning. They made repeated calls and sent texts to Washington that went unanswered.”

Honestly I think that is BS. Many people look at it the way bugeater17 stated regardless of who it is. No one is saying what Mo alledgedly did was okay but many believe its not the same as other child pornography cases and his status as a husker has nothing to do with that.

That's not saying the same thing that you are.

Where's the guy who was questioning Held's recruiting this weekend?  Wandale, Mo, and Mills all basically starters for NU.  They have all come to NU in the past 13 months.

Are you speaking of when I said Mo Washington and mills are they only ones who have proven anything yet??  Its still a true statement.
