The very first rule: You never talk to the cops without going through a lawyer first. Because what you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. This is so incredibly basic. 3 Quote Link to comment

Its still a true statement. The point is that without Held's recruiting, NU would probably be in a very difficult situation at the I-back and Duck-R positions. 3 out of the 4 top I-backs are guys Held recruited (the other was a walk-on), and the top 2 Duck-R positions are also Held recruits. Just because you want to be a whiner and say "those guys haven't proven anything yet", it doesn't discount Held's ability to bring in talent for his position group. Quote Link to comment

Just because he’s a running back that you’d like on the team doesn’t change that. And if it’s only there for a plea bargain, then do it already. No - it actually doesn't. Perhaps you should sit down and have an honest conversation with kids 13-17 years old. I think you'd be shocked to find out what exists on their phones. Not saying its right but it certainly doesn't fit what I think most legislatures are trying to do by making child porn a felony. 3 Quote Link to comment

I remember a kid who not too long ago was gonna be the best thing since sliced bread. I believe his name was Tyjon Lyndsay. He didnt do a thing but someone brought in his "talent". McQuitty was a 4* and hasn't seen the field as well. My point was that at this point they are just talent on paper until they perform on the field. I wasn't bashing Held's recruiting. 1 Quote Link to comment

I hope you can explain it to me, because I don’t think the average lawmaker has a clue how technology interacts with the lives of teenagers. Quote Link to comment
BIG ERN
Frost must feel good knowing he has AM, Mo, Mills, JD, Wandale ALL back in 2020. Offense next year will be one for the books Quote Link to comment

D will have some depth concerns up front but hopefully the O will be even more experienced and high powered in 2020. Quote Link to comment

If no one transfers after this season, there will be at least 14 defensive linemen returning for next season between scholarships and walk ons Quote Link to comment
30-50 Feral Hogs
Speaking of defensive linemen. Remember when Riley was in a "battle" with Harbaugh to get a commitment from Daishon Neal? He's now a senior and still not listed on the depth chart. 1 Quote Link to comment

Neal was a big talent coming out of Omaha Central. I am not sure what derailed his college career, but he may have been recruited as a 4-3 DE, and couldn't find a fit in the 3-4 scheme. That's just a guess. With 20-25 scholarship players recruited each year, and only 44 players on the 2-deep, around half of the guys recruited will end up as non-contributors. 1 Quote Link to comment

Part of it is he's probably best-suited as a 4-3 DE. Part of it is it seems pretty tough for a guy that big to win at "low man wins". I was kind of skeptical from the start on that front. But .... yeah .... recruiting is an inexact science. When you win, your're good at overcoming that and no one notices the busts. When you loose, it's because you are busting too much in recruiting. 1 Quote Link to comment
