The Colorado loss is why we hired Scott Frost

I agree.

Also, I’m done talking and thinking about the Colorado loss. We showed some moxie against NIU (2 min drill, more D turnovers, long gains on O, aggressive D, etc) and that’s what I was hoping for. We bounced back nicely.

Hopefully what we find out moving into Conf schedule is just another piece of what’s not quite right (kicking game, AM, oline for starters) gets fixed. The ones that are right stay right. Just add more pieces to the puzzle each week and we’ll be a complete picture soon.

Frost and Co won’t rest until we see it.

We are in perfect postition to continue on an upward trajectory. The defense is looking good, especially against the run. While the offense has struggled, they are slowly getting better and that is a very young unit with one of the best offensive minds in the conference coaching them. The offense will get right and start looking good consistently at some point and when it does, we will look like a top 20 team out there if the defense can keep it up.

I think the loss was humbling for Frost.  That's a good thing.  In the presser after NIU, Frost said that he had to listen to his staff and others about the "No fear of failure" mantra.  He  realized he needs to not fear it either.  Husker fans are a bi-polar bunch, but he is one of our own and Husker nation has his back.

I've come to the realization that we did not decline in one season and we will not be re-built in a season or two either.  A lot of positives going forward, but room for improvement for sure.

This was my favorite take from his post game press conference. The Colorado loss may be a blessing.  We are not national contenders yet, even if we were 3-0 and nothing conference wise ended with the loss. And yet so much was learned.  Win the West, which is a very realistic possibility, roll the dice in conference championship, enjoy a nice bowl game, and recruit some offensive lineman and a kicker.

You'd think we could get a decent walk on back up for Pickering if we really went looking. I guess thats what Jorgensen is supposed to be. But I mean you could also get yourself a true specialist who can kick and punt like an Alex Henery as your punter then you are good.

Frankly the thing I was happiest to see was the 2nd string performance, including the offensive line. I know it was late in the 4th and psychologically NIU may have lacked intensity, but the 2nd string executed well.

I don’t want a QB controversy but I will say this: At the QB position SPEED is not just 40 yd times. It is reading the field, time to make a decision, and time to get the ball there (combined). A slow read or indecision on where to throw the ball effectively makes one a slower QB and can be the difference between success & failure, for that play.

Wasn't sure where to put this, but I think this is why we hired Frost as well. To bring in kids with the hard work mentality. Pair that with Frost's schemes and actual development we'll get back to the top sooner or later.

I think it was after Frost was hired some local news guys were interviewing players and one of the players was yelling at them to hurry up they wanted to go to some fast food place.

I think this highlights the change in culture and mentality. It might not show on the field all the time, but it will.

As you mentioned, the 2nd string guys came in and NIU was probably just ready to head home.  However, Noah looked very smooth and the OL looked competent in limited action.  That was a great snapshot of the future.  Not necessarily the QB, but the smooth efficient offense that IMO, appeared to have used more of the playbook.

This guy gets "it".  These are the type of kids with their work ethic and focused mentality that will turn NU from pretenders into contenders.  I doubt we saw much of this the past few years.  Honestly, to include some of the upper class men starters.  Perhaps now, but I doubt prior to Frost.

Yup I totally agree. This is something that usually catches media attention and I've never seen it posted. So, I doubt it was happening at all during the Riley years and maybe occasionally during Bo.

i dont know about YOU guys... but i'm pretty numb at this point. i'm done playing musical chairs with coaches. its scotts team to fail with and if thats what hes gonna do, im gonna sit and let it happen. options have run out. grab the popcorn and watch the ship sail or sink. i'm sure we'll be fine in scotts hands.
