BigRedBuster
I'm very surprised he's back playing it. He was pretty emphatic that he was done after the last one. I can't decide if I like him as Bond. It's either him or the writing of the movies he's been in. They are good, but there's something about them that leaves me with a feeling of "that's not what a Bond movie is supposed to be". Quote Link to comment
GSG
This article was from August 2017 https://www.theguardian.com/film/2017/aug/16/daniel-craig-confirms-he-will-play-james-bond-again Quote It is not surprising news, as his return was first reported in July. However, Craig’s renewed enthusiasm for the role marks a change of mind after comments he made in 2015, following the release of Spectre. The film garnered rave reviews but Craig, clearly frustrated with the promotional commitments that accompanied playing Bond, said he would rather “slit my wrists” than reprise the role. “I’m over it at the moment. We’re done. All I want to do is move on,” he said, adding: “If I did another Bond movie, it would only be for the money.” But explaining his heated comments, Craig told Colbert that they had been made in the moment, two days after Spectre had finished shooting when he was exhausted. “Instead of saying something with style and grace, I said something really stupid,” he said. 1 Quote Link to comment

I've enjoyed his reprisal much more than Connery, Moore, Brosnan, etc. I think it is mostly my age; I also like these recent Star Wars films much more than the original three. *DUCKS* Quote Link to comment

Wow.....that's bold. Like I said, they were good movies. Just very different than what I was used to in a bond movie growing up. This one might change my mind on that. Quote Link to comment
Ulty
I love the whole Bond franchise and have liked each of the actors in different ways. To me, the strength of the story is what carries the movies moreso than the actors. Craig has been my favorite bond, because he is a grittier, more flawed character, and Casino Royale is one of my favorite movies ever. But I thought the last movie, Spectre, was garbage, because the story sucked. Brosnan was sort of the ideal actor to portray James Bond, from his look and demeanor, but the movies ended up being mostly horrible. They wasted Brosnan's "Bond-ness" with terrible scripts. For me, Craig is who I think of as Bond. When I go back and watch the old iterations, I sometimes cringe at the humor, acting, production, etc. That's just time, I guess. Quote Link to comment

I think that has more to do with advancements in cinematography than anything. I think for me, back then, Bond was always confident, charming, in control. With the new movies with Craig, he's more doubtful about his job, unhappy...not in control of his situation....etc. Quote Link to comment

Connery and Moore were both great. There were a lot of awesome things about those movies, but most of them did not age well. The production quality is one thing, but the politics of the day, and especially the blatant sexism, are what really stand out. Quote Link to comment

Although it is true that Connery and Moore carried a few mediocre movies based on their charm and wit alone. I don't think Craig could do that. Quote Link to comment

I know exactly what you mean, they just don't feel like Bond movies. But I really like them for what they are which is just an updated version with more modern action instead of the more cheesy campy Bond we grew up with. Quote Link to comment

Gene Simmons of KISS was asked about rock stars of today and he said really nice things and then added something like "One thing I don't understand is the amount of rock stars today that seemed to be embarrassed by the amount of money they make, you get into this business to be famous, make money and go home with something warm at night...in fact, I want to help these embarrassed rock stars...for all the money you are embarrssed about, please send it to me, Gene Simmons, because I like money and I want more of it" 1 1 Quote Link to comment
