Thanks for the clarification @knapplc and @deedsker  - I can see that now -

I disagree wt the diagnosis in the 'cartoon'.

I'm not a fan of budget destroying spending as @ActualCornHusker mentions notes as well.  However, the current situation is fully in the hands of the GOP.  A GOP Senate (and previously controlled house) and a president that voted in a unneeded tax cut that had a temporary boast but has faded and has primarily enriched the fat cats.  We have a president who is going it alone on too many fronts to name and who stirs up division at every opportunity.  I'd say right now Trump and party are doing a pretty good job of driving that car off the cliff. Trillion $$ deficits and we aren't even in a hot war. So excuse for that type of reckless spending.  And they call themselves conservative :laughpound

"Fully in the hands of the GOP" :rollin

Every time any conservative proposes cuts to the budget, the default response is hit pieces like this

Or this

That's no excuse, because in the first 2 years the Republicans should have eliminated about half of all federal programs and made no apologies for it. But it's not "Fully in the hands of the GOP"

Kind of like defunding the CDC and firing all the people responsible for protecting us from epidemics?

Yeah....that's made me feel so much better.

But they didn't so it is.

Even wt the Dems in control of the house - we have the GOP controlling the Senate and the WH and the trillion $ deficits continue.  The GOP is just as drunk on spending as Bernie Sanders.  One spends by giving money away in tax cuts and the other by giving money away in social programs - each end up in the same place - growing massive debt.

Federal tax receipts continue to increase even with the tax cuts, just like they have every single time taxes have been cut. So this left wing talking point has absolutely no ground to stand on

I'm  not a left winger.  He/Congress cut taxes but not spending - deficits are growing in spite of revenue increases.

The tax cuts are irrelevant. People act like tax cuts are robbing the treasury and yet tax revenues continue to grow.

But you're right, spending is out of control and has been my entire life.

I don't have the skilz, but change that to Trump and instead of socialism put  bunch of the stuff Trump has defrauded people with and then line through with strikeouts (like: steaks, casinos, airlines) and then have MAGA at the end.

so·cial·ism
/ˈsōSHəˌlizəm/  noun

  1. a political and economic theory of social organization which advocates that the means of production, distribution, and exchange should be owned or regulated by the community as a whole.

Of course Bernie does not use the label socialism for his policies and beliefs.  If he did even the nitwits wouldn't support him.

He does use it. He’s a self proclaimed social democrat. A non-nitwit such as yourself probably knows what that is. It’s when we adapt socialized programs such as healthcare, education within the framework of capitalism. I mean you yourself could even be a socialist! Do you like non privatized roads and police force and firefighters and public school?
