.1.
I used to be mad at what looked like a lack of progress under year 2 of Duval's S & C program. But once I realized that the culture was bad due to Frost and staff not carefully evaluating the players they brought onto Nebraska when they first got here due to making UCF perfect that year I'm not as mad now. That in addition to the fact that our team was young as hell last season. I still trust and believe in Duval and this staff to get us where we need to be. 1 Quote Link to comment

I don't think it is fair to blame those misses on his desire to coach an extra month. It was much more a result of just the general late start. If he would have come up to Lincoln a month earlier and left UCF, that class would have looked exactly the same. Yes, it was a cobbled together class, but that was just a result of a late start coaching change. He needed a year or two to get his foot in the door with his recruits, not 2-3 months. 3 1 Quote Link to comment

That being the first early signing period also did not help. Most recruits signed only a few weeks after Frost was hired. 2 Quote Link to comment

Although I disagree with the part where you said" If he would have come up to Lincoln a month earlier and left UCF, that class would have looked exactly the same." because Frost literally kicked off over half his first year roster due to more careful evaluation now, I do agree that the late start obviously hurt on top of already taking an extra month to coach UCF to perfection. He just kind of played that part a little incorrectly and now he understands why most coaches leave immediately when they realize they've gotten a new job to coach somewhere else. But that doesn't mean Frost is not a great coach. It was just a sign of a little inexperience in addition to the early sign date working against him as well. But again I'm not mad at that because seeing UCF being coached to an unprecedented 13-0 after being 0-12 2 seasons before will never be duplicated and is one of the most miraculous feet's in CFB history. Not only that but it helped obtained Frost all those "coach of the year" awards and a "natty" on his resume which has helped him recruit amazingly well for Nebraska for our best recruiting classes in all of the 2000's despite not even making a bowl game for 2 years which is just... WOW! And Frost's previous accomplishments altogether on top of the UCF ones will always continue to help him recruit quality players for the Huskers. So it all goes hand in hand in which I believe it was divinely orchestrated for an overall better good. 1 Quote Link to comment
I am I
While I don’t think Frost knew how bad it really was, player wise/culture, I think he knew that it was an uphill climb. Removing half the roster was probably a given. Tough losses and attrition was a given. I think he knew there would be a struggle, both he and Moos said 6-6 first couple years was a good turn (didn’t even live up to that). The first ever early signing says his first class wasn’t going to be great. Maybe a couple or three better players? Maybe? I don’t begrudge the staff for staying at UCF at all. We are where we are and it is what it is. Redshirted almost everyone, still a very very young team. This is literally ”the process” for us. Duvall’s method is showing progress in what our players look like and play like #eyetest, we have a good crop of early enrollee’s and they are making gains while we type. I’m excited for the redshirts and soon to be Jr’s who will have 2+ full years with Duvall and the staff. I hope they send out progress weight/speed/gains so we can measure it!! 1 Quote Link to comment

Red Five
After the last however many years of Nebraska football, I refuse to buy in to S&C hype. Every year its the same story of the players being bigger, stronger, faster. And then add in the current staff trashing the last staff's S&C while getting similar (or worse) results on the field. Can someone make a Bart Simpson writing on the chalkboard meme saying "I will not buy in to S&C hype"? 3 1 Quote Link to comment

We haven't heard of any players being in the best shape of their lives yet so the S&C hype train hasn't even left the station yet. 2 Quote Link to comment
