It's preventative care, the same as a cleaning.  It's a heck of a lot cheaper and easier to fill a cavity you didn't even know you had than waiting until the tooth is rotting in your gums.

Sure...it is also a goldmine for the dentist...

I had balance issues one time...for like a week...it was like I was drunk only I was not as cool and charming as I am when I am drunk.  I went to a specialist...I mean a guy that never has openings...I got lucky to get it in at all.

He looked in my ears, nose and throat and said some stuff to the nurse...and he basically said "go home, you will be fine in two days"

I was shocked...I said "You don't think I should get a prescription or something?" and he goes "If you want I can run a bunch of expensive tests and give you some medicine or you can wait about 24 hours and you will be fine, it is up to you"

I said, "Sounds good!" and by the next day, I was fine.

Right before seeing that doctor...I went to a different doctor...who took blood and did a heart monitor thing...told me he had no idea what the problem was and wanted me to make another appt later that week.

But hey, at least we've got Kushner and Operation Warp Speed.

An interesting read for sure...thanks Danny. In some things, "America First" may be okay...but I don't think this is one of those things

@NUance I am going to move this discussion here because that status update is going to get nuked sooner or later...

If a hospice cancer patient gets hit by a car walking across the street and dies, should that death be classified as getting hit by a car or cancer?

In your example, if she had COVID and it accelerated her death over what normally would have happened, then yes, it is a COVID death.  And COVID has been shown to have heart complications, as it chokes the oxygen in the blood causing the heart to have to pump harder to get more oxygen rich blood circulated throughout the body.

Also, your example is of a 50-some year old woman.  If she is in her 50s, she probably is not on Medicare.  So Medicare (aka the government) would not have paid a dime.

And I am going to repeat this again.  Hopefully this time you actually understand it.  Hospitals get paid a flat rate from Medicare for admitting a COVID Medicare patient.  If that person dies, they do not get any extra money.  The get the same amount of money from Medicare if that person walks out of the hospital or leaves in a body bag.  This is the same way that Medicare works for any Medicare member admitted to a hospital.  They pay a flat rate based on the severity of the service.  There is no "bonus payment" from Medicare for having an alive or dead COVID patient.

Gee whiz.  Thanks for using small words so the humble rabble like myself can feebly attempt to understand the wisdom of your superior intellect.
