Out here in the boonies, our doctor's office had signs that stated if you were coughing, had fever, or suspected you may have influenza you had to wear a mask in order to be seen, as far back as I can remember.

That is unusual in my experience, but good for your provider.

As does both my primary care, my wife's primary care, and our pediatrician.

My wife works in one of the busiest clinics in the area, and it was never practiced pre-covid. So, good on your medical circle I guess.

...as did the hospital where my kids were born, as did my primary care when I was a kid, as did the hospital where I said goodbye to my grandfather, and so on and so forth.

Not doubting you at all. But I would wager that your experience is in the minority.

Neither out PCP nor our pediatrician office has ever had patients wear masks.  The funny part is that the well visit waiting area in the Pediatrician office is on one side of the room and the sick visit patients are in the other side with no barriers.  Reminds me of the smoking and non smoking areas in a restaurant that are right next to each other.

I know that science denial is a thing now but....

Hey wait.. here's Kansas

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/33237889/

"After the governor's executive order, COVID-19 incidence (calculated as the 7-day rolling average number of new daily cases per 100,000 population) decreased (mean decrease of 0.08 cases per 100,000 per day; net decrease of 6%) among counties with a mask mandate (mandated counties) but continued to increase (mean increase of 0.11 cases per 100,000 per day; net increase of 100%) among counties without a mask mandate (nonmandated counties). The decrease in cases among mandated counties and the continued increase in cases in nonmandated counties adds to the evidence supporting the importance of wearing masks and implementing policies requiring their use to mitigate the spread of SARS-CoV-2 (1-6). "

I HATE taking my kids to well-visit appointments- they walk in healthy and two days later are sick as dogs. Every time.

I assume that’s directed at me and I know the study well as I also know the population centers well.

I will start by saying as I’ve said before, I wear a mask at stores before and after being vaccinated.   Go shove the science denial thing somewhere else.

as far as the study goes, this paragraph is relevant and I will leave it to you to figure out why.

By the week of the governor’s executive order requiring masks (July 3–9), COVID-19 incidence had increased 467% to 17 per 100,000 in mandated counties and 50% to six per 100,000 among nonmandated counties. By August 17–23, 2020, the 7-day rolling average COVID-19 incidence had decreased by 6% to 16 cases per 100,000 among mandated counties and increased by 100% to 12 per 100,000 among nonmandated counties.

I guess it depends on which "science" you choose to believe.

I'm guessing that if Covid numbers increase in Texas,  the dems/progressives/leftists will blame ending masks mandates and other oppressive covid regulations.

They'll conveniently forget or bury the fact that China Joe created a mess at the border and has been releasing tens of thousands of Covid positive illegal immigrants into Texas and other other states.

https://www.politifact.com/factchecks/2021/mar/11/greg-abbott/abbott-exaggerates-covid-19-concerns-among-migrant/

"Illegal immigrants" are migrants who have entered the country without legal permission. All of the migrants being released by U.S. Customs and Border Protection, on the other hand, have applied for asylum and have a legal claim to remain in the U.S. while they await their asylum proceedings.

Using the two terms interchangeably is inaccurate, said Andrea Meza, director of family detention services for Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services, or RAICES.

"These folks are asylum seekers, so criminalizing them based on their manner of entry, which is not related to their legal ability to seek asylum, is misleading," Meza said

Of course don't let the rule of law get in your way.  Do you have evidence of the "tens of thousands of Covid positive illegal immigrants that China Joe has released?"

Politifact, lol.

You do realize that for a person to seek asylum that they have to do so in the next country that they pass over into, right? I'm sure that you also know that wanting to make money and send it back to their family or to get better healthcare isn't a legitimate reason to seek asylum.

https://my.lwv.org/michigan/copper-country/reliable-sources-fact-checking

"PolitiFact is a project of the St. Petersburg Times to help people find the truth in American politics, reported in the form of a Truth-O-Meter. It is among the least-biased IFCN sites but leans slightly left of center and ranks high on factual reporting of the accuracy of claims by elected officials and others who speak up in American politics. IFCN signatory."

So you've got nothing to back up your assertion of the "tens of thousands of Covid positive illegal immigrants that China Joe has released?"
