Since March 2020, we may have experienced the greatest intrusions on civil liberties in the peacetime history of this country. Executive officials across the country issued emergency decrees on a breathtaking scale. Governors and local leaders imposed lockdown orders forcing people to remain in their homes. They shuttered businesses and schools, public and private. They closed churches even as they allowed casinos and other favored businesses to carry on. They threatened violators not just with civil penalties but with criminal sanctions too.

They surveilled church parking lots, recorded license plates, and issued notices warning that attendance at even outdoor services satisfying all state social-distancing and hygiene requirements could amount to criminal conduct. They divided cities and neighborhoods into color-coded zones, forced individuals to fight for their freedoms in court on emergency timetables, and then changed their color-coded schemes when defeat in court seemed imminent.

And yet no one you knew ever got arrested for not complying with these draconian measures.  Quite a breath taking set of circumstances, but you courageously stood your ground…against the 17 yr old Applebees hostess that asked you to wear a mask.

These hard core patriots would really suck during actual war time…

Because I am normal, I don't care much about civil liberties, I think 99% of the time the government knows what they are doing.

With that said, I will not wear a mask again unless my boss makes me.  And, anyone that did or does tattle on non-maskers should be, at the very least, jailed for like 10 days.

I don’t think most normal people are concerned about civil liberties…..until theirs get infringed. I think 99% of the time the government only does things that benefit their supporters and donors. I didn’t like masking but I did it when I had to (Doctors office and hospital) and when I had to go to a store, which I avoided as much as possible. I’d have a much dimmer view if I worked somewhere a mask had to be worn all day. That would suck.

Yep to all of this.

Look, if I had a house back in like the early 80's and the government was like "we are going to search every house because we are looking for a super Russian boxer that killed a black dude in an exhibition fight", I would have been like, okay...sounds fair.

I’m sure this is a reference to Rocky 4 but I’m not sure how it applies here   Are you in Benson now, having some Old Style tall boys?

Plenty of small business owners were forced to comply, through threat of arrest, and had their livelihoods destroyed.   How about how many lost their jobs because of the forced vaccine?

Serious question. Can you really get Old Style in Omaha? I think the only place I’ve seen it or drank it is in Wisconsin.

Yes you can!

And it is a Chicago staple!!!

But yeah, Old Style tall boys in Benson are about 3 dollars a can.  It is a great price and on Tuesday, they have Tallboy Tuesday...2 dollars a can!

It is kind of the only one left from the TGIFriday's and Chili's days, isn't it?

They all pretty much serve s#!t food.  If you’re gonna go out to eat, at least go to a quality place is all I’m saying.   Or hit up a local restaurant and support them.

Many people didn’t wear their masks correctly. Many more Magats didn’t even try. Interesting that you blame the policy rather than the idiots for this predicament.

I wasn’t forced to stay in my home at any point. I did not close my business at any point. Not sure what you’re going on about. About the worst thing I can think of was that MacDonalds stopped serving all day breakfast. Maybe I should organize an insurrection?

I've seen this before.  "Gun policies are the main problem.  Not the idiots shooting people."

These topics are more complex than trite banter invites.   Freedom/liberty vs. safety/protection.

Flag in the ground:

COV19 - Individual freedom to move freely and without recourse.  Other want to hide, vax/booster up, wear a hazmat, awesome.  Restaurants require it, their choice.  Eat elsewhere.  Small businesses want to stay open and serve others, do so freely without recourse.  My body, my...what is it again?
