Please post your epidemiology credentials and experience so that we can compare them to those of Dr. Fauci's.  It might help some of those who want to follow your lead have a little more confidence jumping into a sea of humanity by blowing off science and the facts about how respiratory viruses work.  Thanks in advance.  And Happy Trails.

My brother and cousin are both physicians.  They and their colleagues all advise against healthy people wearing masks.  I'll go with thos I know that have zero political incentives.  I'll go my way, and you can...stay out of it.  :-)

No, because you doing you can potentially spread an infectious disease.

Also, as I said, get that **** out of the football forum.

My original post was directly tied to the exact topic of this thread.  You chose to take it in the direction it has taken.  So you stick to the topic in the future.  Alright?!

It most certainly was not. There are multiple threads for you to espouse your amazing uninformed opinions on the Covid epidemic in both the P&R forum and the Rec forum. Take them there.

Faucci is a joke, he lost all credibility (early in the pandemic).. when he said masks are not affective, ....hell, any moron knew masks were a great aid, he just lied and was trying to save them for first responders, which was fine, but he didn't need to lie about it.

so now i don't trust anything he says.......he is an opportunist at best.  he is an adviser, not an expert.

talk of conference only games now, maybe a 50/50 chance that games will be viewed by stadiums full of people

revenue is the key here, so much money involved with CF.....social distancing even at a half filled stadium is nearly impossible.

masks and hand sterilizer a minimum.....serving food and drinks accelerates the risk even more. no good answers here.

This is a completely untrue statement.  Please post all their contact information here so I can personally ask them why they would blow off science as physicians.

March — major PPE shortage, virtually all experts agree in saving masks for front line workers.
Present — no mask shortage.  Experts (except Trumpers) say wear a friggin mask in public.
Situations change, recommendations change.
It’s pretty simple.
You don’t have to like Dr Fauci if you don’t want to.  But the reason you gave lacks merit.

Physicians are experts on treating illness. Most are not experts on preventing the spread of disease. I’m tired of people dropping Dr. opinions on fields that are not their area of expertise as if their opinion settles it.

That said, here’s a Dr. opinion for those who think if a Dr. says it, it must be true.

I’ve seen multiple stories like this the past few months talking about someone without risk factors dying, then there’s a photo of the person and they’re morbidly obese. I feel like it’s not that hard to find that obesity is a predictor of Covid causing a lot of problems or deaths, but maybe it isn’t highlighted as much as it should be.

Anyway, this 16 year old kid appears to be at least 300lbs and his mom is describing him as "perfectly healthy." It's notable for his age but I've seen a couple studies showing obesity as the #1 risk factor under certain age cutoffs.

I don't come on often, so I must have missed the part where Cdog was made hallway monitor.

Just being a physician does not make one an expert on masks or free one from political bias.  You'll have to trust me on that.  Or don't.  I don't care.

You ever have a face to face conversation with someone and suddenly a drop of "spit" or saliva comes flying out of their mouth as they speak?  You know what I'm talking about.  We've all experienced both ends of this scenario.  Would you rather that "spit" land on your mask or on your mouth?  What about be contained in their mask vs. being launched towards your face?

Or the guy (or gal) in the hardware store, that you just happen to be in, just had a coughing fit come on.  Say he (or she) was just recently infected with COVID-19, unbeknownst to them.  In addition to launching their sputum (and thus coronavirus) throughout the air, they cough into their hand (like many of us unfortunately do) and proceed to touch several things in the store including the credit card reader and exit door.  Now, given the choice, would you rather this hypothetical person have a mask on so they can cough into that (instead of the air and their hand) or would you rather them be unmasked?

I would like to hear you're thoughts on this.   I think the answer is pretty clear, especially if you are in the "at risk" group like you stated earlier.

You should come around more often; you might learn that one of the most basic rules of HB is that political discussion, no matter how misguided, belongs in the P&R Forum.

My thoughts are you worry about a lot of things.

Sure I do.  Partially because my career requires it.  Maybe some of its also just who I am.  I don't know.  But if being concerned about minimizing transmission risk during a pandemic qualifies me as a worrywart to you, then guilty as charged.

As much as I was hoping for real answers to my questions I proposed to you, I got pretty much what I expected.

But, yes I do worry about people like you exercising your "freedom" and potentially putting others at risk.  To each there own, I guess.

Good luck to you and please try to be smart out there.

By the way, unless you just totally read onlny one set of news sources, there are a huge number of highly respected and experienced communicative disease specialists who have also said that masks are for the sick, not the healthy and can introduce different health risks if worn by those that are healthy.  But that would require open minded research on your part and would go against your view of the world.  And NO, I won't post links.  You have the internet, look it up.
