Maybe we need to talk to Europe to get this figured out. Premier League got back 1,973 tests yesterday, 0 positive. Meanwhile Iowa Football got back 5 tests yesterday, 4 positive....

My very first question is actually whether or not the tests are the same brands and also what the confirmed rate of false positives are of both testing kit options.

Something that I'd say I have basically seen nobody else talking about.

Are you suggesting that herd immunity isn't the solution?  Your a proponent of wearing a mask to slow the spread... forever?  Or until a vaccine helps the world's population reach herd immunity?

Per this article the CDC has stated that we are on the verge of removing epidemic status for COVID-19 due to a steadily declining death rate.

I'm telling you that medical experts have shown that natural herd immunity is not a thing, and you called it a hot take.

If I have to wear a mask forever, sure, I'll wear a mask forever. Some people are permanently in wheelchairs and they manage to live pretty great lives. It's not the end of the world if we have to change something about how we live.

It is a hot take.  Covid-19 will be solved by herd immunity.  How we reach that herd immunity remains to be seen.

https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/coronavirus/in-depth/herd-immunity-and-coronavirus/art-20486808

I won't wear a mask forever and neither will most of the free world.  Equating that to a handicap is pretty rude to those that are in that position by the way.  It would be the end of the world as we know it on this forum - pretty hard to play a sport or do anything very physical with your airway blocked.

For what it's worth, I'm in no way against a person wearing a mask temporarily when there is sound medical reasoning behind it.

You should read the article you linked more carefully. From the article (emphasis mine):

However, there are some major problems with relying on community infection to create herd immunity to the virus that causes COVID-19. First, it isn't yet clear if infection with the COVID-19 virus makes a person immune to future infection.

Research suggests that after infection with some coronaviruses, reinfection with the same virus — though usually mild and only happening in a fraction of people — is possible after a period of months or years. Further research is needed to determine the protective effect of antibodies to the virus in those who have been infected.

The title is a bit misleading because that's not quite what the CDC said, from the article (emphasis mine):

Quote

The CDC is still unsure whether the 10-week declining percentage of deaths will see a reverse, adding, “Nationally, levels of influenza-like illness (ILI) and COVID-19-like illness (CLI) activity remain lower than peaks seen in March and April but are increasing in most regions. The percentage of specimens testing positive for SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, also increased from last week.  Mortality attributed to COVID-19 decreased compared to last week and is currently at the epidemic threshold but will likely increase as additional death certificates are processed.

uh huh, interesting the only 3 news sources that a google search turns up that are reporting this are: The Daily Wire (Ben Shapiro), The Federalist (David Harsanyi, Mollie Hemingway), and The Blaze (Glen Beck).

Knapp, that was pretty offensive to those stuck in wheelchairs.  My wife spent a long time in one and it was a heck of a lot bigger deal than wearing a mask.  We all get your point though...You feel very strongly about it and are frustrated that everyone isn't listening.

Vegas has progressed to betting on actual attendance.  I like the odds still that we at least play some form of a season.

Did the CDC say it or not? Doesnt matter how many report the facts. Facts are facts. Sure the death toll could always go up. It could also not go up.

And Trump ultimately runs the CDC. He can make them say what he wants them to.

It could not go up that's true and the country as a whole has been moving lower as the northeast region slows down. However, if you look at the state level the states with out breaks are seeing deaths turn higher. Texas, Florida, South Carolina, Nevada and Georgia are all seeing deaths and hospitalizations rise. The death toll lags by several weeks so, the deaths that are being seen today are people who were infected in the middle to beginning of June. We likely won't see the full height of deaths from the current outbreaks until 3-4 weeks after the cases peak and begin to decline.
