seaofred92
https://nebraska.rivals.com/news/huskers-go-overseas-to-land-australian-punter-daniel-cerni Quote Nebraska has had its fair share of inconsistencies in the punting game the last four seasons, and it's hoping someone nearly 9,000 miles from Lincoln can help solve them. Sydney, Australia, punter Daniel Cerni of the Prokick Australia announced his commitment to the Huskers via Twitter on Monday. Nebraska's new senior special teams analyst, Jonathan Rutledge, is no stranger to the Prokick Australia. Before coming to NU, he coached Arryn Siposs of Prokick at Auburn in 2018 and 2019. Siposs recently signed a free-agent deal with the Detroit Lions in April. It's assumed Rutledge's connection to Siposs and Prokick played a big factor in the Huskers landing Cerni. NUance
Awesome! This has got to be the first football player we've had from Australia, right? Quote Link to comment
SouthLincoln Husker
His average is over a second more in hang time than we had last year. 3 1 Quote Link to comment

BigRedBuster
Well, the kicking room is going to have some competition. I’m getting the feeling Frost did not enjoy our kicking game last year. 2 1 1 Quote Link to comment
teachercd
Time for the Men to get At Work. You gotta burn the Midnight Oil if you are going to keep the old AC/DC charged. You want to have some INXSuccess...you gotta work. Also...Silverchair (I think they were from there) 3 1 Quote Link to comment

B.B. Hemingway
Is it too late to edit our Super Six for 2020?! 1 Quote Link to comment
swmohusker
This is exciting. Coach Rutledge making an impact already. Last couple seasons our Special Teams have been bad and helped cost us games. It would be nice to gain an advantage it that area. Looks like our Special Teams Ananlyst is fairing just as well on the recruiting trail as old 450K Bruce Read did. And Rutledge is technically not an official staff member. Excited to see how (if we have a season) we improve in those areas. It will increase our win total if we can turn the corner in that department. It also should help with the fact that we should have a lot of young bodies to pick from to field SP Teams and not have to worry about burning the youngsters Redshirts. 1 Quote Link to comment
seaofred92
FYI to clarify- he’s on scholarship. https://www.omaha.com/sports/college/huskers/recruiting/recruiting-nebraska-lands-australian-punter-daniel-cerni-for-2020-class/article_709484e9-1561-500d-bc70-24054f09c57e.html Quote Jonathan Rutledge was already hip to the Australian punting pipeline. Now Nebraska’s new special teams analyst has the Huskers grabbing a punter from Down Under, too. Daniel Cerni, a native of Canberra, Australia, announced Monday that he was accepting a scholarship to NU for the 2020 season. Nebraska recruited the 20-year-old through Prokick Australia, which has sent dozens of punters to college football, including five Ray Guy Award winners. NU is now up to 25 signees in its class, including Lincoln Southeast athlete Isaac Gifford, who enrolled in the spring as a walk-on but has said in interviews that he will be added as a scholarship player in the fall. Nebraska still has another scholarship available. Quote Link to comment

CheeseHusker
This is a pretty amazing program. I've actually run into a couple of guys down here who have tried out - pretty much any time I wear a Packer shirt I always seem to draw somebody in who knows about this. Nathan Chapman was an Aussie who punted for the Packers for a little while; he's one of the founders of this. https://www.prokickaustralia.com/ Quote Link to comment
