Cdog923 Posted June 2, 2021 Share Posted June 2, 2021 I can certainly see NIL and The Portal being two things that Coach K just didn't want to deal with at this stage in his career, even if Duke is one of the premier basketball institutions in the country. He had just completely altered his recruiting philosophy and style to acclimate to the 1 and Done style of player, and I can certainly see him not wanting to alter that in just a short period of time. Scheyer is probably the logical choice. He's been on the staff for awhile now, his recruiting acumen is strong, and he hasn't been tarnished by a lack of success elsewhere or some form of scandal. I can imagine there's probably a few sets of hurt feelings from guys who thought they'd get more of a look, but Scheyer is the best choice for staying in-house, IMO. 1 Quote Link to comment
