BigRedBuster
Several years ago I read a very good article on The Intercept about the corruption in the Chicago Police department and how two cops lost their jobs because they tried reporting how the a police were actually running the drug cartel within Cabrini Green Housing Project. It was an absolute amazing and well done story. Here it is. https://theintercept.com/2016/10/06/in-the-chicago-police-department-if-the-bosses-say-it-didnt-happen-it-didnt-happen/ Here's another really good article on the corruption in Chicago. https://theintercept.com/series/the-chicago-police-files/ These are the types of issues that many of us never face with police and corruption. These departments need to be completely disbanded and rebuilt to break up the corruption. 1 Link to comment

These departments need to be completely disbanded and rebuilt to break up the corruption. In my mind, it is the most corrupt city/department in all of America. There were always running jokes about how getting in with the CPD of the CFD was not only impossible unless you were connected to someone that was already in and/or very important but also that it was basically a dream job because of all the "OT" you could put in and spike your pension and all the "extra" cash on the side. I do believe you have to live in Chicago proper to work for the CPD BUT I am sure there are ways around that as well. The FD wait list was legendary at one time. Link to comment

teachercd
So stun guns can kill...don't you have to reload those things each time? Like Mo said...this is an execution. And more peaceful protesters not masking up. Uggg Link to comment

You do to shoot the prongs on the wires at distance, but there's also a direct-contact mode where you can use them repeatedly. Link to comment

DevoHusker
It appears that they issued a retraction, but not because their data was wrong. Just that it is constantly being "misconstrued" for political purposes. https://retractionwatch.com/2020/07/06/authors-of-study-on-race-and-police-killings-ask-for-its-retraction-citing-continued-misuse-in-the-media/ As Cesario and Johnson note, the article earned heavy criticism for its methodology. The article led to an exchange of letters in PNAS in January, and then in April, the journal issued a correction to the paper in which the authors acknowledged flaws in their analysis but stood by their central argument. 2 Link to comment

Are we reading the same text? The authors retracted the paper and admit there were flaws in their analysis. That has nothing to do with how anyone else construes their work. Link to comment
