God no- unless LSU will travel to Lincoln and play in December.  I can't handle the outcome.

Already getting razzed about how the SEC's going to steal our recuits - complete with with snide commentary that they dont want them anyway but maybe the Sunbelt would.

Pffft.....outcomes. I just want football. At this point I’d be happy playing last years top ten (as long as half the games are in Lincoln, many in November and December).

The leaked story was 12-2 (Neb & Ia voting to play) to a Detroit MI newspaper.   Its possible he made it all up but why?   He got the inside info from - most likely MSU or MI source as both reportedly said NO to playing.   Harbaugh may have honestly wanted to play but MICH Univ brass said not. I would guess Ohio State was a bit dicier internally.  But both schools have huge alumni bases / $$ trust funds so they could ‘afford’ the $100 million hit easier than most.  Several big ten schools are very well oiled fiscally and can ride this virus time out.

Most coaches want to coach.  But did they stand up snd speak from the heart and soul as Frost did?   I havent seen it.  Bravo Frost, Moose, Green, Regents.m

Ummm....Maybe Day did? :dunno

The University Presidents are in charge of this decision and there is a solid chance that very few of them played athletic sports while in college or high school.  There is also a very solid chance that they were envious of the spotlight and priority that athletes received while they were in college and high school.  The nerds became the Chancellors and Presidents while the jocks became the Athletic Directors and Coaches.  Translation?  You can bet your a** the Presidents are going to crash the athletics plane into the side of the mountain.  The irony is that the academics will be taking a major hit as well for college sports give a ton of money to the academics side of the University.  But in the eyes of the nerds it is worth the cost.  Remember all of those wedgies and bullying you dished out jocks? :LOLtartar

To answer the question posed by this thread......very soon.  I look forward to seeing what games UNL schedules.  I hope they set up a game with UNK.  No matter the cost, I would go to that game.

Who knows if there will even be a decent vaccine by early next year and how effective it will be?  Nebraska should try to play this year if they legally can get out of the Big 10 for a season.  I'd even take them taking Old Dominion's place in Conference USA or going back to the Big 12 rather than put up with the Big 10 delay tactics that may never result in play this coming season.

What do you think the possibility is that the BIG had every intention to pull the plug on the season until all the fan backlash and more importantly, getting feedback from coaches/AD’s that they would explore a non BIG schedule if possible.  If the BIG came to the conclusion that schools could legally do that and keep all the revenue without kicking some back to the conference HQ, they may have changed their thinking.

What do think the possibility is that the secret vote was purposefully leaked to cause backlash?

Weird.  You're rumored to vote to cancel the season, but then you go on with practice.  And then Iowa is not practicing.  I guess maybe rumors should stay rumors until it happens.  Pieces to this puzzle are not fitting but soon we shall find.

To the University of Michigan and the College Athletic Community:

In response to the current state of affairs surrounding the possible cancellation of the 2020 Big Ten college football season, we, the parents of a University of Michigan football player. are compelled to express our support for our child and for the Michigan Wolverines coaching staff and program.

We can unequivocally state that Michigan football has taken every measure to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our child. Coach Harbaugh and his staff have maintained consistent communication with us. as well as with other parents. We are well versed in the protocols that have been established by the University of Michigan to reduce risk to our child and to other players and to maintain a safe environment. As such, we have complete trust in the coaching and the medical staff of the University of Michigan.

More importantly. we have complete trust in our child and in his ability to determine what is best for him. Therefore, we overwhelmingly support his decision to play football this fall.

We strongly believe that denying these players the opportunity to play football this season would jeopardize their fitness, their happiness and their futures. For those players that wish to play, they deserve the opportunity to play. They have spent the better part of their lives preparing for this time of their life and to rob them of the ability to play without assessing the sakty standards and protocols that have been established by a coaching and medical staff selected by the University of Michigan would have damaging long term effects.

As football players, they understand risk. As young men, they understand the consequences of their decisions. They are able to balance potential risk with reward. For those players that elect to play. we stand by them and we support them.

We believe that our child’s participation in Michigan football this fall is the best possible environment that he can be in during these uncertain times.
