Kevin Warren shows us why he's being dragged

So his family and son were  given the option to play or not play.  Not sure why our conference shouldn’t give our kids and their parents the ability to make the same choice.

Seriously, everyone is trashing Warren when really, him allowing his child to play should actually speak volumes to those whom are crucifying him. Warren "did not" make this decision. He has a boss like everyone on here and he is simply doing what he is paid to do. That is, representing those whom make decisions. Anyone continuing to put judgement on a single man for the postponement of the 2020 season is simply thinking irrational.

I think a portion of the criticism of Warren is still unknown and based on what has been reported. It has been speculated he was directing the efforts and presenting the medical evidence/studies (which some now believe to be flawed) and in doing so was advocating for the cancellation/postponement until after the 1st of the year. On the same note, he is receiving criticism for advocating against a postponement to the end of September or to implement the "flexible schedule" he was patting himself on the back just a week earlier for developing.

Essentially, the legitimate criticism of Warren is that he has not been transparent and that he has not addressed the questions concerning why the league cancelled when it did rather than allow more evidence to come in and postpone the season by weeks or a month rather than the whole fall.

I’m not blaming warren for us not having a season. It rests on him and the presidents that voted no.  The reports state warren aggressively advocated for ending the season.

I blame him for being a terrible communicator, not having the protocols in place For fall football and not having the data points and details for having a spring season. I blame him for using a fraudulent study to close down the season, dancing around the issues  and not being transparent .i blame warren for wanting to be first to cancel and him not cooperating with other conferences. I blame him for not delaying the fall season until more data comes out rather than move to a January schedule that will never happen. I blame him for coming out with a Revised fall schedule And changing his mind less than a week later with no explanation as to what changed.

I blame him for still being in Minneapolis when the big10 offices are in Chicago.  He’s done a terrible job so far with everything but his get out the vote campaign for the 2020 election.

So his suggestion was either

Lose millions, cripple college towns, ruin eligibility, cripple schools

or

Why don't we try and play

If his pitch was the second one...he didn't try very hard,

Mostly agree, but it's possible that he allowed his son to play but didn't want B1G to play if he's mostly concerned about liability, rather than health. If his son gets infected, there's no liability beyond his son's medical bills, and he might deem that risk to be fairly low. On the other hand, if there's outbreaks among B1G players (regardless of severity/long-term consequences) and the lawsuits start flying, the schools and conference could have much larger liability. He might simply think that's more likely to happen than his son having major lasting health issues.

Again, purely speculation, no idea if that's actually the case or not.

It is 100% about liability,  the kids might be more at risk without FB.

Iowa cut multiple sports and NU will furlough 51 employees and everyone in the athletic dept takes a 10% pay cut. Also no more training table starting Monday. 3 mil in savings. Warren is gonna get s#!tcanned for sure once these seasons kick off.

actually Warren ought to go for fiscal reasons.  Thats 5 mill right there.  Assign a couple assts to handle what little needs to be done for the next six months.  Hire a great new guy for 500,000 and save a fortune. Lots of smart folks that would jump for a job like that at $42,000 per month!

For those that think all Warren is is a ballot counter and mouthpiece, why in the world would  you pay someone millions of dollars a year to do that? You could easily outsource that job to someone in India for pennies on those dollars .

Because his job is also to be the public face and whipping boy when needed.  Roger Goodell is a perfect example.  He is an employee of the owners, and he also makes 40 million in compensation.
