I would almost guess that they got pissed off by the hot mic incident and pushed it back 12 hours because of that.

As petty as they've been throughout this whole process that's what this is. They wanted their reporters to break the news and the hot mic messed that up. They are trying desperately to control the narrative of their total botch job.

And because Nebraska was the one that forced their hand, I fully expect the schedule to be this:

10/24 @ Ohio State

10/31 Michigan

11/7 @ Michigan State

11/14 Wisconsin

11/21 @ Minnesota

11/28 Iowa

12/5 @ Penn State

12/12 Indiana

12/19 @ ? (x vs. x)

That last week could be filled nicely with a game against an all-star team with the best players from all the other teams!

Dude...this is cool. More incentive to fight down the stretch to play the best team you can in game nine (if I'm reading it correctly).

I like it (so long as it's not a bunch of rematches, but even then I will still watch it). May serve as a de facto bowl game, too, particularly if some or all of them don't end up happening this year.

I'm almost positive this is the case. Ordinarily we'd have 168 televised games in a season, but we lose 56 games with the abbreviated season. With a lot of the conference ineligible for a bowl game, this gives us an additional six games' worth of ad revenue.

Somebody who knows how needs to set up a poll or polls on:

1.  Will all teams play the opening week games?

2.  Will any games be played if one team get more than 5 positive tests?

3.  Will the Big Ten champ play more than 6 games in 2020?

4.   Will more lawsuits be filed vs Big Ten before Dec 1, 2020?

I think odds are about 50% of each as of today’s limited news.

The details must be put forth for all to see immediately.   Trust only

what you see and not what you hear third hand.

I think the scorn the conference has taken for sitting out while other conferences play lit the fire and did the trick. The skepticism is absolutely warranted, but I think we'll play a bunch of games.
