VP Debate - expectations and outcome

I think both did a good job of evading the questions. Pence was all about deflection and point at Bidens record. Harris was all about doing no harm. I thought she played it to safe. Pence like Trump may be looked at as rude for his going over time on most questions and for interrupting

I thought Pence did more of the same.  Evade questions without really answering anything.

I thought Harris did a decent job, but missed on some really good opportunities to make a point.

COVID = I don't understand why they don't hammer the Trump administration more about eliminating the pandemic team in China last fall that could have seen this coming sooner.  Or, how he played it constantly as the "Democratic hoax".  Or, what he did this last week with trying to convince the American people that it's no big deal because Trump fought it and he's better than the world has ever seen.  Or, how he contradicts the experts constantly and actually suggested we should inject disinfectant into our bodies.

Shutting down economy = Trump and Pence continually claim Biden wanted to shut down the economy.  Meanwhile, it WAS shut down for a time under Trump.  In fact, when some states started to reopen, Trump came out and said it was too early.  I don't understand why Biden and Harris allow them to claim Biden is the one that wants to shut it down.

Election results = Why not bring up that Trump has constantly tried to attack the integrity of the election and in fact has suggested people vote twice which is illegal?

There was something else I was thinking but I can't remember it right now.

I just think there were missed opportunities to list specific things Trump has done that hare hurt the country.

I agree.  I was expecting the Harris that I saw in the Dem primary debates.  Will she was steady and held her serve, she could have been more aggressive.  That is why I think she was trying to 'do no harm' - kind of like a football team wt a 3 TD lead going into the 4th quarter.  They become too conservative in their approach.

I remember the other thing she should have hammered Trump/Pence for.

They were questioned about health care.  The discussion ended up about Trump trying to tear apart the ACA.  Something was mentioned about Trump's plan.  She should have immediately hammered him about.....you have had 4 years and we still have seen NOTHING about this plan.  It's an example of tap dancing around the subject instead of stating the obvious.

Big Paraphrase here:

Basic Question wt accusation: Why did Harris change her views on various subjects now that she is vp candidate?

Pete responds:  If we want to play that parlor game all night to see the difference between vp candidates we could bring up things all day on Pence such as:

1. Why does Pence wt an evangelical background want to be on a ticket wt a president caught wt a porn star.  Why did he call Trump's immigration policy unconstitutional before he was on the ticket in 2016.

2. Pete continues:  but the main question is will our families be better protected by trump, who has failed to secure America in face of one of the most dangerous things to happen to our country?    (TG: kind of reminiscent of Reagan's "Are you better off now than what you were 4 years ago")

What did Pete say?  I can't watch it right now.

He was asked why Kamala Harris was okay with Biden's healthcare plan now, but against it during the primary.

Pete answered (I'm quoting loosely) "There's always going to be a little daylight between running mates.  It's why you see an ultra-conservative evangelical run on the same ticket as a President who cheats on his wife with porn stars"

The interviews weren't really ready for an immediate follow up.  There was an awkward pause before they started the next question and the clip ended.

Thanks!

The only thing I have an issue with...why are people still demonizing porn stars?  WIth the internet and onlyfans and webcam shows, these women (and it totally empowers so many of them now) become millionaires that are not only doing what they want but also are essentially CEO over their own life in every aspect.
