Biden's America

Maybe try to listen to the message before you decide to get all pissed off. Small buisness all across America will be the emphasis, especially those hardest hit in already disaffected areas, with minority/women owned also being a priority (why do you think that would be?).

It's impossible to know how each individual business in this country has been hurt based on race, gender and location alone.... It's pandering.

And I'm not pissed, as a business, we had our best year ever in 2020.... And I'm very, very thankful for that.

That's not even what he said. And all those types of buisnesses he listed (which includes small town mom and pop, AKA Smallville USA white owners) are traditionally worse off.

Stop trying to find a reason to get mad about something.

Smallville?!?!  One Mr. Clark Kent lives there!

Minority businesses were more likely to be turned down outright the 1st go around. Per capita, minorities, women, and small businesses were more likely to have their requests turned down. They are simply trying to make up for that so it’s more equitable this time.

from the article:

Consider the liberal state of Oregon, for example. When organizing its COVID-19 relief efforts, Oregon legislators specifically designated $62 million to only go to black citizens and business owners.

“In creating the Oregon Cares Fund, lawmakers took the rare step of explicitly naming a single racial group as the beneficiary, arguing that Black residents have been subjected to unique discrimination that put them at a disadvantage during the pandemic,” the New York Times reports.

Now, the remaining money is on hold with lawsuits pending. In the interim, it has been suspended.

“It’s discriminatory,” argued Walter Leja, a Hispanic business owner and plaintiff in the lawsuit. “It’s locking up a bunch of funds that can only be used by Black businesses when there’s a ton of other businesses out there that need access to those funds. It’s not a white or Black thing. It’s an everybody thing.”

The race-specific Oregon relief program was meant to help disadvantaged groups. But, clearly, all it really accomplished was further division, conflict, and dysfunction.

This isn't what Biden said.

Also, other than Portland and Eugene is Oregon really a liberal state? The crazies that took over government property came from there. Traveling there for the football game a few years back most of Oregon looked like Nebraska with small towns, ranches/farms, and trucks. I'd imagine the demographics would be similar too.

Why?  I don't believe anywhere on the application for the first round was there a box to check if you're a minority owner or not.

I have no issue with helping minority owned small businesses, right along with every other business.

To me, this is like when Biden announced that his running mate would be a female of color.  Why not say "my running mate will be the best qualified person?" There are a lot of qualified minority males, or non-minority females, or  yes, even a white male.

Again, from the article:

"Our priority will be Black, Latino, Asian, and Native American owned small businesses, women-owned businesses, and finally having equal access to resources needed to reopen and rebuild,” the president-elect said. His campaign website states his intention to “Ensure all small business relief efforts are specifically designed to aid businesses owned by Black and Brown people.”

Banks can have models/policies that discriminate even if it's not on purpose, and there are regulations they have to follow so this doesn't happen. They also have whole departments that try to make sure this isn't happening. After the 1st round of loans they did make some adjustments.

This is the kind of subtle racism that creeps into our society. And then we wonder why a bunch of middle-aged White people believe "they" are stealing the election and mount an idiot's crusade to Washington.

This is from Biden's website, yes. But it is a partial quote, and alone it doesn't explain the whole plan.

Why not just go to the site and read it for yourself instead of spreading this intentionally hysteric race-baiting nonsense?

  • Ensure all small business relief efforts are specifically designed to aid businesses owned by Black and Brown people. Trump’s team designed the PPP to allow the largest banks to give their most well-off clients “concierge” service at the front of the line while closing the door on Black-, Latino-, AAPI-, and Native American-owned businesses that did not have deep relationships with big banks. Biden will ensure from the start that any emergency small business relief plan that will still be needed in January 2021 will have clear provisions to ensure that true small businesses — especially those owned by Black and Brown people and those serving underserved rural, tribal, and urban areas — get the relief they need. He will reserve half of new small business relief — whether the PPP or future efforts — for small businesses with 50 employees or fewer, including microbusinesses and sole proprietorships, so the bigger and more well-connected aren’t able to win in a first-come, first-served race. Biden’s technical assistance programs — described below — will also involve “navigator” assistance for small — often minority-owned — businesses to ensure fair access to these programs.

Nowhere does Biden or his site say the ONLY small business relief is going to Black and Brown people. What he says is they were largely overlooked by trump's plan, and since the Black & Brown communities were disproportionately affected by COVID, Biden's plan will assure they are not skipped in future relief.

I am neither hysteric, nor race baiting. I am sharing from the article that was linked.

You are correct, I did not go to Biden's campaign website. Thank-you for providing a cut and paste.
