Biden's America

A lot of people tried to warn the "Trumpsters" what kind of circus we were signing up for.

Much of the “circus” was media driven and false stories that had to be corrected.  Remember all the anonymous sourced stories where “the walls are closing in” that turned out to be nothing burgers?  Me too.  Trump was antagonistic to the media and the media was very antagonistic to him and those in his admin.

Policy is what I vote for as it is what affects the country as a whole.   I don’t appreciate how Trump has acted since he lost the election and the election suits were dismissed or lost.  It’s why I wouldn’t vote for him in the future.  Doesn’t mean he didn’t do a good job advancing Republican policy during his first three years (pre Covid).
Many Presidents have had moral failings but made good Presidents.  JFK being a prime example.

Since very few people call out Biden admin for the same stuff the Trump admin did at times (I.e. obfuscate the full truth at press conference or press briefings, lack of transparency at times, etc…) I do it and people here think that’s a bad thing.  We had 5-6 people doing it here during the Trump admin so it wasn’t the same person all the time.  Maybe if others would be open minded about criticizing Biden it wouldn’t always be me, and the other people here wouldn’t get their feelings hurt all the time.

The major problems I have with Trump were there long before the January 6th and the 2020 election.  Everything since is nothing but evidence of what he was before.  He was never good for the country no matter what his policies were.

It’s ok to be registered to a party.  It’s also ok to call that party your side.   I can “see it”.
It’s also ok to vote for people on the other side when the candidate with an (R) behind their name doesn’t fit what I’m looking for.  I’ve done so three times in statewide/Congressional elections.  2 won and 1 lost.  Does that mean I can’t “see” what side I’m on anymore?  how about you?  How many R’s have you voted for in statewide or national elections?

To say I’m the only one on this board who sided with a political ideal is laughable at best, and purposely disingenuous at worst.  All one has to do is look at the posting history to prove you wrong.

I have never, and will never, register for a party. Having a "side" is exactly what is wrong with our government and politics. It means that politicians are not held accountable if they are on the right team. It should always be country over party. There should be a plethora of options to vote for, not two garbage ones.

Not that my voting habits matter; but I've voted for both Republicans, Democrats, and a Democratic Socialist (Bernie in the primary) for President. I will never cast a vote for anyone endorsed by Donald Trump (no matter the party), which means not voting for a GOP member for the foreseeable future in state and local elections. There is no reason someone should seek endorsement from a horrible person like that.

I would gladly support a candidate from the right who is independent of Trump politics and is actually progressive in their thinking. Someone who's willing to slash military spending and bloat, and invest in the education and health of our citizens. Someone who isn't triggered by dog whistles when it comes to discussions on civil rights and racial injustices. Someone who will embrace science and technology rather than running from it. And someone who embrace cultural differences and actually works to make immigration smarter and easier to help fill out country's needs.

You mind sharing who this was?  Statewide or national.

McCain. I would have gladly voted for Romney or Kasich over Trump if I had the choice. Maybe Rubio even as garbage as he was.

I couldn't tell you who statewide I've vote for, but I've voted a staight Dem ticket statewide since Trump. Local elections I don't really care who's who unless they say something foolish.

There are needle exchanges where addicts can get clean syringes. It's one of the ways to care for addicts and try to make their lives better.

The goal is harm reduction. A party that cares about people and wants to mitigate the drug crisis in this country should be very much in favor of this goal. But of course it's better to scream "crack pipes" and get the base frothed up than to, you know, actually help people.
