Biden's America

It makes little sense to argue over Biden's America.  He will be judged this November.  We shall see if the American voter believes we are headed in the right direction or the wrong direction.

Dems will lose ground.

But I wouldn’t be surprised if Dems receive more votes.

How do we use those potential stats to discuss Biden’s America?

It’s still, maybe moreso, valid discussion considering the average American voter doesn’t know their a$$ from a hole in the ground. I mean there are quite a few that actually think Trump is still President and who would vote for him again. So excuse me if I won’t defer to the American voter.

All but one of the 32 Nays were Republicans. The 1 was Bernie Sanders.

This would have been a no-brainer for most of American history, but enough members of the GOP are loath to do anything good for the American economy if Biden is in office, and a D has his name on the bill.

Bernie's concern is hardly unfounded: it's a huge taxpayer funded benefit for already wealthy corporations. Funny how that's a thing Republicans used to love.

The fact is, the manufacturing infrastructure for things like mass production of semiconductors and flatscreens is extremely expensive, and private corporations in South Korea, China, and Taiwan have benefitted from huge state investments and subsidies. That's the way America used to work.

In Bizarro world, state investment in private enterprise is called "socialism."  Unless a Republican is president.

The thing that may have tipped this bill is that the Pentagon got involved: any China/Taiwan squabble could cut off the U.S. semiconductor supply.

The fact that this is becoming more of a story is... frustrating.

Not because I disagree with the principle, but because this entire topic of conversation originates from some random twitter user/stalker using a flight tracker to find out that Kylie Jenner's plane flew a few miles away.

The thing they didn't find out is whether or not she was actually on it. Overwhelming odds are that the plane was flying to where it usually stays, or flying to a location for maintenance. And now we have this "news".

Flight tracker should only be used for head coaching searches!

I actually agree with this. While it will sicken me to see the bill defeated, it will put Republicans on blast on a topic that 70% of Americans think should be a thing.

I agree, it's time for the dems to push anything and everything they can to start making the republicans responsible for the misguided things they hold dear. I'd call it fighting dirty but it really isn't. We can only hope that more people start voting based on politician's voting records and actual policy rather than what letter is after the name.

I do have to ask though, what's with that bill name, The Inflation Reduction Bill?  There is damn little in there that will do anything to reduce inflation. There are good and needed things in the bill but why call it something it isn't......oh yeah, because Republicans.

Is it even possible Manchin and the Dems slow played it for this very reason? I seriously doubt it but brilliant (finally) if they did.
