Pretty quiet here regarding this.  As Krebs says "those that don’t call this out for what it is are complicit."

Any Trumpists here want to call this out?  Or are you good with a coup and the formation of a dictatorship?

Looks like Barr and the rest of the DOJ did what they were supposed to do.

The right thing.

Because the attempt was so egregious most would not want to be involved. Even so there those who were going along with idea of overturning a free and fair election and the peaceful transfer of power.  A few more sycophants with in the DOJ and who knows what chaos might have ensued.

Did Trump do the right thing?  That's the issue.  He's the leading candidate for the Republican nominee in 2024.  If he gets re-elected, do you think he will suddenly respect the rule of law and our system of democracy?

We can't rely on bureaucrats to have to do the right thing.  That's some thin ice.  Trump and his sycophants need to be held accountable.

I see you haven't called him out on this.

The worry is also that even if Trump isn't the nominee (it's his choice at this point), somebody Trump-y will get the nod. And it's clear that supporters of the Republican party are completely on board with this sort of thing, thus enabling whoever emerges from the field a free pass to push whatever anti-democratic nonsense they want.

Absolutely as can be witnessed by the silence here from the Trumpists.  They need to go back and read Animal Farm though.

‘100 times worse than Nixon’: Historian warns of Trump’s ‘coup’ in damning 2021 emails (msn.com)

New evidence concerning Donald Trump’s DOJ pressure campaign to overturn the 2020 election shows DOJ officials rejected their colleague’s attempt to intervene in Georgia’s election certification. Presidential historian Michael Beschsloss joins MSNBC’s Ari Melber to discuss how Trump’s so-called “coup attempt” echoes the Nixon-era “Saturday Night Massacre.”

Trump still in conspiracy mode.  Telling lies and claiming he won.  Delusion at its finest.

I spent virtually no time with Senators Mike Lee of Utah, or Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, talking about the 2020 Presidential Election Scam or, as it is viewed by many, the “Crime of the Century.” Lindsey and Mike should be ashamed of themselves for not putting up the fight necessary to win. Look at the facts that are coming out in Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and other States. If this were Schumer and the Democrats, with the evidence we have of Election Fraud (especially newly revealed evidence), they would have never voted to approve Biden as President, and had they not, all of the mistakes that were made over the last month, which are destroying our Country, would not have happened. Mike Lee, Lindsey Graham, and all of the other Republicans who were unwilling to fight for the Presidency of the United States, which would have included at least an additional four Republican Senators, two in Georgia, one in Michigan, one in Arizona, are letting the Democrats get away with the greatest Election Hoax in history—a total con job!

We are losing our Country! The Democrats are vicious and fight like hell, and the Republicans do nothing about it. RINOs fight harder against Republicans than they do against Democrats. They want to be so politically correct, even if that means losing our Country, which is happening now. The evidence on determinative and wide-ranging Election Fraud is staggering. Your Republican Presidential candidate won in a landslide, but has so little backing from Republican “leadership.” They should be ashamed of themselves. Why don’t they have hearings? Or even if just Republicans had open public sessions, we would all hear the irrefutable facts. Remember, the Fake News Media does not report the truth!

‘A fading brand’: McConnell dismissed Trump as a retired racehorse  | Lexington Herald Leader (kentucky.com)

Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell believes the Republican Party is moving away from Trumpism and views the former president as a weight on his chances of reclaiming the majority next year.

That’s according to “Peril,” the new book by legendary journalist Bob Woodward and veteran reporter Robert Costa.

The book quotes McConnell calling former President Donald Trump, “a fading brand. Retired. OTTB as they say in Kentucky -- off-the-track Thoroughbred.”

“There is a clear trend moving,” McConnell said, toward a place where the GOP is not dominated by Trump. McConnell added, “Sucking up to Donald Trump is not a strategy that works.”

If that’s true, it’s not advice being heeded by many Republican candidates who are thus far largely embracing Trumpism and defending the former president at every turn.

McConnell’s antipathy toward Trump has been thoroughly documented before. This is just a more vivid portrait of the Kentuckian’s private musings to South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham, a top Trump ally, during last winter.

Whereas Graham has argued for a strategy of keeping Trump at the center of the GOP’s 2022 strategy, McConnell is portrayed as wanting to move as far away from him as possible.

That may be impossible, depending on Trump’s willingness to plot and organize for his preferred candidates next year -- which would require a level of discipline and focus he’s yet to exhibit.

Ever the cold-blooded strategist, McConnell, according to Woodward and Costa, appears to believe he can beat Trump’s “ragtag network,” if one were to ever even come together.

“The only place I can see Trump and me actually at loggerheads would be if he gets behind some clown who clearly can’t win,” McConnell is quoted saying in the book. “To have a chance of getting the Senate back, you have to have the most electable candidates possible.”
