Joyce Durand from the Sidetrack has passed away

The Sidetrack is gone, torn down after the fire that gutted the adult store next door years ago. A hotel is going up in its place. Since then the band has played at Single Barrel, a very different venue. But it was always the same dang fun.

 

Anyone who went to the Track back in its heyday remembers Joyce. She ran the band and kept audiences entertained before Husker games for decades. 

 

Joyce has passed away at the age of 84.

What a big part of my college experience.  She and Paul were such a treasure for the Lincoln bar scene.  

 

Now...the crazy thing is, looking at her age, she must have been about 54 when I graduated from college.  That's about the age I am now.  Man....I thought she was older than that back then.

Same here, sad news.

 

We were probably singing along with Paul and Joyce at the same time. I think I learned some new cusswords there..

She allowed me and a friend to get on stage and sing one time.

 

She wasn't impressed.....we weren't asked to do it again.

Yes. She more successfully than I
