Junior forward Derrick Walker was suspended for 16 games by the NCAA, the Huskers announced Monday morning, for a violation of team an NCAA rules while Walker was playing for Tennessee in 2018-19. Walker's suspension is for half a season. The NCAA based its suspension on a “normal” 31-game season, which accounts for the length of Walker’s suspension. However, Nebraska can only play a maximum of 27 regular-season games this season, and will likely play fewer, as the coronavirus pandemic has already thrown college basketball scheduling into disarray. 1 Quote Link to comment
knapplc
I guess if he's got to get suspended, this is the season to do it. Still, how can they give him 16 games in a 27-game season? Quote Link to comment

ECisGod
That makes him eligible to come back for the game at Iowa. Of course that's assuming none of the games get cancelled & the NCAA doesn't apply a little logic. Quote Link to comment
suh_fan93
Reduced from 16 games to 14. 2 Quote Link to comment
ECisGod
He will be back for the game at Maryland. Quote Link to comment
ECisGod
How does the Florida A&M game cancellation effect this, or any other cancellations for that matter? It supposed to be half a season. If multiple games get cancelled, does the number of games suspended go down? For example if six more games are cancelled (20 played), does it turn into a 10 game suspension or does he end up sitting 70% of the season? I know some of that depends on the timing of the cancellations. If he sits for 14 games and then a bunch get cancelled he's hosed, but if teams we are supposed to play before the game at Maryland get cancelled does that reduce the number of games he has to sit? I also know that to answer these questions accurately someone would have to read the NCAA's mind, but does anyone have any guesses? Quote Link to comment

BigRedBuster
It's going to be really interesting to see how the team changes with him on the floor. Quote Link to comment
