Is it? If the line isn't blocking to such a degree that Nebraska is that much of an outlier, that's really on the line.

 

How can any running back do well when they're getting hit that quickly?

It's been harder to actually get a good feel for the rb's with the way this line has been run blocking.  Not good for the most part.

You put these RBs behind a good (doesn't even need to be great) O line and they would look totally different.

 

Imagine if Johnson or Morrison could get into space up the middle where he can actually make a move to avoid a tackle.  Imagine if Stepp or Yant could get through the line and has an LB or safety trying to tackle him one on one.

Exactly.  We may have to go to more quick short passes to get the ball to the RBs in space.  But AM hasn't shown to be that good at those throws towards the sidelines behind the line of scrimmage.   Morrison had set records in Oklahoma but he hasn't been able to showcase his skills behind this line.

I hope there are some good good transfer OL candidate available or good candidates from the portal or junior college ranks for next year.  WE need some experienced guys.

Very very Easy- just look at the numbers. 

 

Martinez led the nation in fumbles lost for 3 seasons- Allen took care of the ball pretty well- even for a pretty mobile QB. 

 

Allen had 70 TD Passes and just 26 Interceptions in College. If you only want to take what he did at Wyoming- in 2 Seasons that he started- 44 TDs, 21 Interceptions.  That is an average of 22 TD throws and 11 Interceptions- got to like that.

 

Martinez averaged  through 3 seasons- 10 TD passes per year and 7 Interceptions.  Those aren't great numbers on an offense that wants and needs to throw the ball. 

 

Allen won ball games, won the Division, went to Bowl games both years.AM has yet to have NU over .500 in now 3 1/2 seasons. 

 

The year before Allen started Wyoming won 2 games- they won 8 both years with Josh and just 6 the year after he left. He was a difference maker in the W- L column.

I don't have a dog in this fight...but that point reinforces the idea that Martinez - facing much tougher defenses in the B1G - would have better numbers if he was playing inferior competition.

 

And then the inverse for Allen if he had played in a tough conference.

 

Etc., etc.

 

And as to the height comment from earlier, Lamar Jackson is 6'2" like Adrian.

 I get it. Im thinking had Josh Allen played in the BIG- he would have done quite well.

 

NFL defenses are pretty tough and well coached one can assume-. Professionals compared to amateurs. If Allen can do well in the NFL- Im guessing he would have done really well in the BIG also. Not much of a jump there.

Except that's the opposite point of what was being argued. They're talking about a correlation between college on-field success and NFL future - Adrian has had more individual college success than Allen in all but one individual stat (TDs).

 

Your initial claim that Allen had a better body of work in college is extremely dubious and based entirely on the one individual stat that fits your view. Allen was obviously the more talented QB, and to his credit worked that talent into NFL production. But his body of work was worse in college, by a pretty significant margin.
