Josh Allen had so much trouble reading Nebraska's defense that he threw five INTs in one game.

Seems to have worked out OK for him.

If we were discussing Josh Allen’s entire career and not an individual game like we are AM then you might have a point.  Alas we aren’t, so you don’t.

Exactly how are you going to spin that a guy who threw for 5,066 yards at a 56.2% completion rate with 44 TDs while running for 767 yards at a 3.2 ypa clip and 12 TDs has a "much better body of work" than a guy who has thrown for 6,893 yards at a 64.6% completion rate and 36 TDs while running for 2,125 yards at a 4.8 ypa clip and 28 TDs?

Ummmm, Allen played 2 years and this is AM’s fourth.  Sooooo, go ahead and combine AM’s three most current years including this year and compare those to Allen’s.   That’s an equal number of games.  Take a hard look at the TD/INT ratio.

I also don’t believe anyone is comparing Allen’s running ability to AM’s, (which outside of Lamar, is a definite far secondary skill in the NFL for good reason).

What????

We've been through this.

28 TD/ 15 INT Josh Allen's Sophomore year

16/6  his Junior year.

Sure. A tick or two better than Martinez.

But if the discussion is why Josh Allen looked like a better pro prospect than Adrian -- and it is -- you don't get to say Adrian is interception prone, while Josh wasn't.  Pretty much a wash. AM still has a chance to have two comparable or better statistical seasons.

Clearly someone saw something coachable in Josh Allen, and they were right. He's been great.

The main metric isn’t the raw number of INT’s.  Sure everyone wants that number close to zero.  The Important number is the TD/INT ratio.  Allen’s is over 2/1 which is a pretty good number.  Anything over 3/1 is outstanding. AM’s is 1.6/1 but more concerning is his most recent 24 game stretch comparable to Allen’s 24 game stretch.  AM is 1.3/1.  That is not good.

I love how AM is an athlete and makes many chicken soup plays out of chicken s#!t at times.  My biggest complaint with him is decision making/or lack thereof in the passing game and his inability to lead the team to a scoring drive in crunch time.  Those are big intangibles in the NFL for a QB which is why I don’t see AM lasting for more than a cup of coffee at QB in the NFL or at all

Are we putting equal weight to the competition JA and TM played against?

And when punishing TM for not leading the team to scores in crunch time, are we discounting the 10 other guys on the field with him?

I think the only reason Josh Allen entered the discussion is because his college stats weren't that impressive and the competition level was questionable, and yet he was highly drafted and proved successful in the NFL.  The discussion was about Adrian Martinez's draftability, and maybe the JA example gives him hope, but I think AM has to be a rock solid producer the rest of the year to get even late-draft consideration.

Whatever we think about the OL and RB talent on this team, Nebraska is #3 total offense in the Big 10, averaging 470 yards a game. When you put up those yards but have red zone problems, the OC and QB usually take the heat.

It's almost like if the offensive line can create some lanes and provide some protection everything looks a lot better.

Right? Give this guy some time and we get this kind of football. What a difference a shake up in the O Line has made.

NW isn't great this year, but that side of the line has suffered even against mediocre opponents this year.

What a change.
