I've been seeing a lot of tweets from Victor Shi.  Who is he and why does he have such a big following?

Victor Shi, the youngest elected Delegate for Joe Biden in 2020, is a writer, speaker, organizer, activist, podcast co-host, and a freshman at UCLA, where he intends to major in American Literature and Culture and is a member of the school’s Daily Bruin and Political Union clubs.

Victor began his time in politics in eighth grade as a campaign intern for Congressman Brad Schneider, spanning over three years of canvassing, phone banking, raising money, and organizing political events. During Victor’s time in high school, he was selected as one of thirty students to serve on Illinois Governor JB Pritzker’s Emerging Youth Leaders Transition Team, where he provided input on policy recommendations concerning young people to Governor Pritzker’s administration, and also interned for Illinois PIRG (Public Interest Research Group) and Equal Citizens, where he spent much of his time advocating for and writing op-eds on Ranked-Choice Voting and democracy reform.

Most recently, Victor was elected as the youngest delegate for Joe Biden to the DNC Convention in 2020 at age seventeen, amassing over 42,000 votes in Illinois’ Tenth Congressional District. Victor was then offered a position as an Organizer on the Joe Biden for President Campaign as well as a Fellowship on the 59th Presidential Inauguration Committee.

Currently, Victor is a District Office Intern for Congressman Brad Schneider, a National Youth Trainer for CADCA, an organization dedicated to substance use prevention, and is the co-host of the podcast, Intergenerational Politics, with Jill Wine-Banks (former Watergate Prosecutor and MSNBC Legal Analyst). On their podcast, Jill and Victor aim to represent and engage all generations in politics and have had conversations with some of the biggest names, including Neil deGrasse Tyson, former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, former FBI Director James Comey, Paul Krugman, Mark Cuban, Kathy Griffin, Mary Trump, and more.

Victor’s on-air commentary and interviews have been featured across various networks and publications including MSNBC, CNN, NBC, PBS Newshour, ABC, the Daily Herald, and the Chicago Tribune. His written work and op-eds have been published by outlets like USA Today, The Hill, Daily Herald, and International Business Times. Victor was fortunate enough to also have been the recipient of the AP National Scholar, CADCA’s Advocate of the Year, and the winner of the 2020 Illinois Youth and Government Moot Court Competition for best oral argument and written brief.

I'm always amused by his "Gen Z will save us!" takes.

There are plenty of knuckle-draggers in "Gen Z" to make progress impossible for their futures too...

What scares me is how the "religious" youth of today tend to gravitate to the more radical churches rather than the thoughtful ones that actually encourage thoughtfulness and intellect.  It's just the "Jesus makes me happy so we need to make sure liberals don't take him away!" type groups that seem to be popular in my area.
