Top destination in the world

people vote with their feet

weve have won that election in an ultra landslide for what 100 years ?

Again I fail to see how that is a good metric. But i guess since the US doesn't fair well in many other metrics, thats all you got

Ok let me explain this in simple terms

people choose to live where they feel offers them the best choice for a happy and prosperous life

if a country sucks most people will probably choose not to go there

on the other hand if a country is great people want to go there

hence the term voting with your feet

not many people standing in line or dying trying to get into Cuba or Venezuela these days

So like I said, you have nothing else. The fact is we rank below many first world countries in many things such as student performance and health care.

There is plenty of ugly history to go around, and ignorance among Americans knows no age, gender, or ethnic borders.

Calling out the 1/3 of millennials for not fully appreciating the brutal history of communism is cherry-picking. Or turd-picking, I guess.

I grew up in a very pro-American time, and I always believed we were better than the alternatives, and yes, under-appreciated by the nations and peoples we were trying to lead to Democracy and economic progress. Even with a pretty keen understanding of the Vietnam War, I still held on to this belief.

But watching the Ken Burns Vietnam documentary with my kids.....man.  How can we hold up our ethical superiority to anyone? That was some purely evil s#!t, justified by people who showed no better understanding -- or caring -- of history than the average millennial you cite. Study up on the men who led us into Iraq after 9/11 and the incredibly blinkered understanding of the Arab and Persian world, and the 600,000 mostly innocent civilian Iraqis killed that we never talk about because they're not Americans.

We haven't learned a goddamn thing.

Tell you what: I'll trade you the 1/3 of millennials who don't fully appreciate Stalin's evil for the millions of older Americans who believe God made Donald Trump president.

Can you put a little more effort into this stuff, please?

The link to the survey is broken, but it says right in the article "one third of millennial, generation “X” and “Z” respondents"

Ok we can definitely agree vietnam and Iraq shouldn’t have happened

I know many many conservatives like myself that agree with that

ive studied both conflicts in depth

johnson and bush were terrible presidents

our neighbor down the street 7 houses was captured and killed in captivity

I took a very early interest in that

what does that have to do with socialism being proclaimed the answer or that millenials know little of our nations history,, constitution or economics ?

God putting trump in office office has little to do with them thinking trump is some kind of Christian leader

it comes from a verse that talks about God being in charge of everything

trump is no Christian and that sliver of people duped into thinking he is are 100 percent wRong

yes he backs religious freedom but he should have been kept at arms length

Its not that socialism is the answer, its that there are many examples of first world countries with socialist programs in place that increase the standard of living. People think that is worth looking into. As for your assertions about millenial knowledge level, again I can find a slew of articles bashing on baby boomer ignorance. I think we can all agree there are people of ignorance in all age ranges and there is no need for the sweeping generalizations.

The same % of baby boomers misidentify communism. This is from the same survey, albeit a year later. The people who paid for the survey to be created are going out of their way to point out younger generations' ignorance because the entire point of Victims of Communism is to make sure younger generations keep remembering what happened.

The burden of proof is on you that millennials know less, since you brought it up. And your "proof" so far was a one liner from a survey that included Generation X, which you likely purposely ignored, since you seem to do that kind of thing often. You might be right, but you've done jack s#!t to back it up.

In fact, that wasn't even your original claim. Your original claim was a generalization that millennials are ignorant, period.

"millenials are ignorant of history"

Right. And the generations brefore them weren't ignorant of history with their celebrations of historical symbols of things like genocide and racism in the forms of things like Columbus Day and the Confederate Flag.

Sure dude.

I don't think millenials know more, I think that thinking one way is the right way and that I know and other people are wrong is a bad mindset to have. Why don't we look at what works the best and try to optimize our own system? Why do we constantly divide and blame the other generation for our problems instead of coming together and trying to solve our problems with the best ideas from all parties?
