And those super nice individuals do not deserve to be lumped in with racist white nationals/KKK type individuals.

Way to completely disingenuously "miss" the point of @BlitzFirst's post.

Statues of racists need to come down. Period. No American deserves to have the abasement of their ancestors publicly displayed like that. Those monuments to Jim Crow were erected to keep minorities where racists want them.

Bernie Sanders is far more left than Tapper.  Just shows you how misguided @Archy1221 is...he has no idea what left even means...yet he posts like he has all the answers in the world.

When we see how ignorant his posts are saying things like "leftist Jake Tapper" we're seeing how misinformed and ignorant he is to even argue his or any position in this forum.

You can't argue for or against something unless you understand both sides.  His constant unwillingness to see things from a different perspective show he's unwilling to learn, change, and grow.

Bernie??  Bringing Bernie into a Tapper post???

I get it that you don’t understand Jake’s background but bringing Bernie in to make a point doesn’t prove the point you would like to prove.

Anyways, carry on @blitzfirst with your wisdom about myself.  Talk it out.  Get it out of your system.

when you are ready for a real discussion that doesn’t delve into personal insults just let me know.

And people like you completely disingenuously ‘miss’ the point of Trumps words and try and make them mean something they don’t to drive your false narrative.

If they're trying to preserve public statues of racist folks, they don't get to choose.  If they want them in museums, I'll agree.  Until then, they are racist supporting f#&%s and they get no sympathy from me.  I'm a minority.

Actually they do get to choose whether they want to associate with a hate group and the folks Trump referred to chose not to.

Im not here to defend anyone at that march/protest or whatever it was called, just want people to be honest about what Trump said and meant.

Bernie is by far the most left active politician associated with Democrats.  If we widen that scope to democratic folks...he's still ONE OF the most left folks.   Jake Tapper is not.

Jake Tapper has never described himself as a Democratic Socialist.  Bernie has.

Your ignorance is once again showing.

Hey there.  Jake Tapper and Democratic Socialist were never written by me.  Bernie wasn’t brought up by me and I didn’t compare Tapper to Bernie.

However, Jake Tapper is a left wing journalist.  To try and deny that is denying the reality of Jake Tappers career.

Ignorance is not knowing what you speak of. See above ^^^^

The good people Trump was referring to were the people protesting the taking down of statues.  He specifically condemned White Supremacy.  There were a many majority of people at those protests who only cares about the statues and preserving the historical components and wanted nothing to to do with the KKK type crowd.

I've read these posts a couple of times and am trying to make sense of them. The "good people" comment was about the white supremacists marching on Charlottesville, I don't recall that part of his speech being about statues at all. Am I misremembering? As far as Trump condemning white supremacy, he only ever did so when pressed, after being called out for the many dog whistles (and bullhorns) he had sent out supporting white supremacy and racism in many forms. There are threads about this in which Trump's racism has already been discussed and proven. Saying now that Trump condemns racism is not only inaccurate, but it is very late to the party.

But to your other post that I quoted, you "want people to be honest about what Trump said and meant," what exactly are you referring to, and which Trump statements have been unfairly mischaracterized?

There is a reason why these extremist groups like KKK, Neo Nazis and Proud Boys LOVE Trump so much.

To act like he didn't support those thoughts and ideas just because he was put in front of a microphone (after tons of pressure) and says a few words is ridiculous.

As USA Today said.   Joe Biden literally launched his campaign on this lie that still gets told on this board as if it were true.

Even you said Trump doesn’t condemn racists when he does in the very same presser the Charlottesville quote is taken from.

I have posted a video piece that shows Trump condemning the racists at least 15 different times.  To act like he supports those groups is disingenuous AT BEST.

There's more than enough evidence of trump providing aid and support to racists for the people with eyes and ears on this board to understand.

Sure, once in a while he'll put his tongue in his cheek and say a bad word. But nobody is fooled by that. His actions speak far louder.

This is absolute hogwash, and like I said earlier, you are late to the party if you are making this claim. Trump's history of racist comments, stoking white supremacists, and only making a statement of condemnation when he is pressured to (as damage control from previous stupid things he said) is well-documented and voluminous.

He condemned racists 15 times? Great, here is a short video of about 15 racist things he has said or done:

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-election/video-donald-trump-racist-barack-obama-central-park-five-us-election-2020-b1426977.html

Here is another article showing his long history of racism.

And here are two threads on HM where we have discussed this topic in detail for years. Why don't you read those threads and post your rebuttals there. This is the wrong thread for re-litigating a topic that has essentially been settled for everyone who is not blind to reality. If you want to debate trade policies, taxation, foreign policy, etc, I'm happy to hang up and listen and learn something. But Trump's racism is hardly up for debate.

Here's the deal with Donald Trump. It's narcissism first. Everything else second.

If you're Black and willing to say something nice about him, he'll invite you and Kim Kardashian to the Oval Office, or maybe make you an ineffective HUD secretary.

If you're a Latino and you say something nice about him, his daughter will hawk your brand of canned beans to the media.

If you're a North Korean dictator and you say something nice about him, he'll let you have whatever you want.

But if your most loyal base is white and fearful, you'll tell them everything they want to hear. You will literally build walls instead of bridges to  prove it. And you are loathe to condemn anyone who supports you. The Ku Klux Klan and the Proud Boys were never fazed by the tepid statements someone drafted for Trump. Rightwing extremists believed that for the first time in their lives, they had one of their own in the White House.

So at the end of the day, Trump's most fervent loyalists were out in force, willing to overthrow the government in order to keep him in office. In that moment, his legacy on the line, Donald Trump could not have been more clear how he felt about the Confederates, Nazi's, QAnon whack jobs, and Camp Auschwitz jokesters that carried his banner:

"You're special. We love you."

Narcissist first. Racist second. But still a racist.
