Insurrection fallout

Are you guys who think nothing will come from this still sure?  If you're right we are truly and wholly f#&%ed.

I'm not gonna hold my breath. It's nice to hope, but let's have some perspective.

Donald Trump before 2016:

• was sued by the DOJ for refusing to rent to black people, two separate times

• Ordered black workers off his casino floor when he came in

• Took out a full page newspaper ad calling for four black teenagers (who were later exonerated) to be killed

• Was quoted as saying he hates black people counting his money, and affirmed that the quote was probably accurate

• Had openly bragged about watching minor underage women change in the dressing rooms at his beauty pageants

• Has had at least six affairs while married

• Started the racist 'birther' attacks against Obama, claiming he was a Muslim Kenyan

• Dodged the draft four times

• Has had dozens of allegations/complaints/lawsuits from contractors because he steals and cheats and doesn't pay his workers

• Defrauded tons of people with Trump University

• Had bankrupted multiple businesses

• Has brazenly admitted that even though he LARPs as a Christian, he's never asked God for forgiveness

• Said "I moved on her like a b!^@h... I don't even wait. And when you're a star, they let you do it. You can do anything. Grab 'em by the pu&&y. You can do anything."

• Routinely and consistently praised dictators, authoritarians, fascists and trolls in our country and across the world while routinely and consistently criticizing and mocking 'weak' politicians like John McCain.

• Asked Russia to hack the Democrats

I'm sure I'm missing plenty of bullet points, but all of that was before he was even elected. That's the person that we elected President, and it didn't get any better once he was. I'm already exhausted from that but you could make another list post election about how often he stoked the flames of white racial animosity, coerced foreign leaders to get dirt on political rivals, disrespected pretty much every tenant of freedom and equality and rule of law enshrined in the constitution, was accused of sexual assault, engaged in schoolyard bullying and divisive political rhetoric, and a million other things.

And still a large portion of our populace, and a whole bunch of power hungry, knuckle dragging, sycophantic government officials support him and what he stands for. So after 4-5 years of him as president and candidate, and decades of him proving to be a habitually lying power hungry narcissist, and no accountability, it's hard to believe that all of the sudden something is different.

It's not like Trump hasn't been brazenly breaking laws his entire adult life.

Hopefully we live through it.  It's not over.  If he'd have won or somehow wins again or a clone like Desantis wins they'll form an axis with Russia and, well, check the photos of the destruction of Ukraine.

Trump would want to build a golf course and Trump tower among the rubble.

They say they are going to have hearings through July.  And, who knows how many surprise hearings we will have like today.  So, buckle your seatbelt and hang on.

Are you saying you're 50/50 that he will get indicted or should be indicted?

I would love to know about the private talks that happened that lead up to this hearing.  Did they go to her asking her to testify?  Or, did she go to them saying she wants to testify?

I know if I was her, I would have one hell of a good scotch in my hand right now.

50% he will.  The case needs to be rock solid.  An exoneration would be really bad.  I’m 100% he should, if nothing else, to force some of theses clowns to testify.

I thought the previous testimony from the AG office was devastating.  It was a firecracker compared to this nuclear bombshell testimony today. And yet, they say this was all a 'set up' to attractions yet to come.:o  I think the AG wants the J6C to build an air tight case to turn public opinion solidly away from Trump and his enablers both in the admin and in congress.   If the GOP remains hardened against the realities of the J6C hearings, then I hope there is a widespread repudiation of the GOP in Nov  - and that is coming out of the mouth of a life long Republican - of course today's GOP is not the GOP I grew up in.  But it had its roots even in the GOP I knew.   I was in high school during Watergate, and while grave, it comes no where near this situation with Trump.  At least Nixon had the common sense and pride of country (and self) to resign and not throw the nation into the chaos of an impeachment proceeding.

Long day at work, and didn't get to watch so thanks for the coverage here.

Seems like compelling testimony.

To those that watched it in depth, do you feel these things she revealed today will lead to an actual indictment or arrest? For Trump or anyone involved?

100% - if there is no indictment, we are done.  Has to be otherwise justice is done in America and Lady Justice has been laid to rest forever - murdered by Trump and his henchmen.

I think there is enough to indict. Will there be?  If not it will be for some reason other than lack of evidence. They knew they were going to be charged and actually discussed it.

I am really interested to see the rest of the testimony to see if anyone comes out that’s even closer to the president.

I am absolutely flabbergasted that the local Trump supporters aren’t in here today defending this.  Flabbergasted I tells ya.

The MAGA newsletter spin doctors maybe, finally have met their match. Kangaroo court and witch hunt must seem a bit insufficient.
