Political limericks

Recommended Posts

Since we have a political cartoon thread, how about a political limerick thread.  Make them up or copy them from another source.   The Tulsa World makes space for them in the Sunday paper.  Interesting to read.

A limerick is a form of verse, usually humorous and frequently rude, in five-line, predominantly anapestic meter with a strict rhyme scheme of AABBA, in which the first, second and fifth line rhyme, while the third and fourth lines are shorter and share a different rhyme.

Here is my first creation:

Oh, what a sight that is so Sweet

To not see an hourly Presidential Tweet

New President cannot Rest

Works hard at Resolute Desk

While the old 45 is put out on the Street

There once was a man from Nantucket
Who kept all his cash in a bucket.
    But his daughter, named Nan,
    Ran away with a man
And as for the bucket, Nantucket.
Pa followed the pair to Pawtucket,
The man and the girl with the bucket;
    And he said to the man,
    He was welcome to Nan,
But as for the bucket, Pawtucket.
Then the pair followed Pa to Manhasset,
Where he still held the cash as an asset;
    But Nan and the man
    Stole the money and ran,
And as for the bucket, Manhasset.

From the Tulsa World today

Jan 6 remembered:

It started with an incitement speech.

That ended with the capital breech.

We know the name

Of who to blame.

The House had every right to impeach.

(by John Krueger, Tulsa)

Where's Bernie Now?:

Everybody is smitten

With Bernie cozy in his mittens.

At every turn

we're feelin' the Bern,

And meming everywhere he's sittin',

(by Susan DeBartolo, Tulsa)
