You’re not making sense.

you’re saying, a lot of bites are centrist so governing as a centrist is bad because the party moves away from centrists, to the extreme, to get away from the centrists where the votes are.

He's saying if your strategy is to be firmly in the median/average between the two parties, and one party starts shifting the overton window while the other stays still, then the third way/centrist has to start moving that way too to maintain being in the middle.

So if the left side is at -50% and the right side is at 50%, the centrists try to stay at 0. But if the left side stays at -50% and the right side goes up to 100%, now the centrists are shifting to be 25% to the right.

@Lorewarn gave a good explanation, but I'll also add the the median between the 2 political parties is not the same as the average of the citizens. And both of those are different from the middle of political ideologies.

And while third way Dems moving to the right might get more voters to the right of the rest of the Dem party, it also alienates the base of the Dem party on the left, so it's unclear that actually gets more total votes. And of course, this is an oversimplification as a simple left/right does not come close to describing the complications of real life.

That’s one way of looking at it, but not reality for some in the center. When the right went full MAGA whacko far right, centrists on this board (and I would think most) didn’t go farther right.

I think he's talking more about the politicians and their policies.

Take Obamacare for instance. That was essentially a Republican idea in the 90's, then with the right going whacko and trying to provide something centrist policy-wise, it's actually pretty right-wing and still was called socialism.

Well, that’s an example of pathetic party politics that voters fall for.

I prefer the constituents correct their own mistakes versus political which hunts. It doesn’t always work out that way. MTG is up next. I guess she is allowed to run now. Suing to keep a candidate from running seems bush league.   I say let her constituency vote her out. if they don’t, well, more fodder for the news media. Is she in a primary race?

Typically, I agree. But, there are some races they need help.

If the admin is smart they should attempt something, and if/when it turns around, take credit for it whether their actions accomplished anything or not. They lost suburban women on education topics and lockdowns whether they admit it or not. This could help them.

Someone in the admin is smart.

it might be easier to get formula from canada...but someone put big tariffs on that stuff and no one can afford to buy it now.

Those are still in place? Trade them for prescription drugs? Oh wait. Never mind. :)
