The 2022 Congressional Elections

Recommended Posts

The Republican in Nevada is up by 800 votes now. The Democrats may end up gaining a Senate seat. Keeping the House would have been preferable. I took a look and Democrats are ahead in 16 uncalled races there, so the House majority may only be a majority by something like 4 seats. Unfortunately even with only a majority of 4 that means Republicans running all of the committees.

Which, if one were to have placed a wager on it, would be good!!!

The Senate is more preferable than the House. Mostly because Democrats can keep nominating judges, even potentially any SCOTUS openings.

Of course it would've been best to keep both, but in a midterm environment holding onto any chamber is practically unheard of.

You really don’t understand any of this do you?  Prob the fourth time you’ve said and think the Senate nominates judges.    It doesn’t work that way.

He didn’t say the Senate nominates judges. Obviously, the President does.  But, it’s much easier for him to do if his party controls the senate.

when moscow mitch is in charge of the senate a democratic president can't get his judges approved. in effect mitch gets to pick the judges when he is in charge.

He actually doesn’t get to pick his judges.  The President does.   Now if those two want to compromise on judge pics then fine but it’s the presidents choice to nominate.

biden can pick them....but if mitch is in charge he gets to say whether they get to the supreme court or not.  the president has no say after he nominates them.

Masto should win in NV. There are too many votes outstanding in Clark county (Vegas) to be offset the rural votes dribbling in which will favor L:axalt. Unless he magically starts running up ridiculous margins in Vegas (zero evidence this will occur), she will pull away.

That should hopefully render Georgia a moot point and give Republicans there permission to stay home or cross the aisle to avoid the trainwreck that is Herschel Walker.

Dems gaining a seat in the Senate while the Rs get to deal with a nightmare situation in the House and get their butts kicked in a lot of statewide elections is pretty fantastic, IMO.

The House is a meme body anyway. I'm sure they'll be firing up the panels to investigate Hunter Biden and Hillary ASAP.

That’s correct which is different than saying the Senate nominates them

Howabout this, so y’all can quit bickering over what both sides knows to be true.  The senate controls approving or disapproving SCOTUS nominees. Which effectively makes them in charge on the issue regardless who the President nominates. The nomination doesn’t mean squat compared to control of the senate.

The nomination actually does mean more than squat.   Very very very few SCOTUS nominees get rejected.

Senate is in charge of the issue ONCE a person is actually nominated, not before.
