He could really benefit if Adrian comes back for the 2022 season and get two years of learning behind Adrian before being thrust into the starting position. Careful, you'll trigger the Adrian haters if you talk about him coming back for his final year. 1 1 Quote Link to comment

uberism
The kid has a strong arm, can really sling it. Just needs to keep working at the game. Will be the starter next year if Martinez leaves to the NFL or whatever. 1 2 Quote Link to comment
admo
Looked good, played well, has potential. Got a long way to go between now and heading into his 3rd year in the program. Let it develop naturally is all I'm saying. Quote Link to comment

Remember, Smothers missed out on his early enrollee spring. Plus, with all the close games in ‘20 he hasn’t had much of a chance to prove himself yet. 1 Quote Link to comment

Like McCaffrey, I don't think Smothers has the arm strength. That's something that should have been apparent to Verduzco when he was recruiting him. 3 Quote Link to comment
Cdog923
I've heard he smells wonderful, knows how to parallel park, and always tips over 20%. 2 2 3 Quote Link to comment

We haven't seen any of these guys take a game snap. People need to pump the brakes. 1 1 Quote Link to comment

Nebraska55fan
Not sure we can extrapolate any QBs performance just from the Spring Game. If you were there like I was, you knew the wind was pretty strong and gusting, coming from different directions at times it seems. Going into the wind, really tough to tell how effective the QBs throws were. What I CAN say is Smothers was behind his intended receivers early and the balls didnt seem very tightly thrown. Didnt look promising. HH- tough to say, didnt just YOLO throw, tossed several away etc. Was heavily pressured. Martinez minus the pic and backward pass to the tackle (wtf) looked pretty sharp though. . 1 Quote Link to comment

I thought he looked as good or better then he ever has 3 1 Quote Link to comment
