Nebraska. Sure, a last-place finish in the Big Ten means there’s nowhere else to go but 13th or better, but coach Fred Hoiberg turned around Iowa State with core recruits like Georges Niang and Monte Morris and supplemented with transfers, not the other way around. It’s possible Bryce McGowens transforms the Cornhuskers the way Niang did the Cyclones, even if it’s for only one season. An NCAA Tournament appearance isn’t out of the question. — Scott Dochterman

Fred Hoiberg wins with skill and shooting, and he’s starting to get some real talent in Lincoln. The perimeter trio of Arizona State transfer Alonzo Verge Jr. and the McGowens brothers could be fun. Nebraska has been one of the worst teams in the Big Ten the last two years, but the Huskers will compete for a bubble spot this year.  — CJ Moore

We will finish better than that. This is lazy in that they are simply going off of the last two years records and thinking nothing has changed.

And, I’m fine with everyone thinking we are going to suck this year again. However, I have the feeling the other Big Ten coaches aren’t thinking the same thing.

I love Abdellmassih's attitude towards recruiting in that.  No reason why we can't go get the best players in the country or in the world. We have Fred.  We have the facilities.  We have the fan base and we play in a very good basketball conference.

Don't shy away from going after anyone.

If they go out and play really well this year and compete for  or win the conference (yes, that's a dream but it's not out of the realm of possibility) imagine what the recruiting will do.

Sweet video. Awesome we were able to get a couple guys in the league. That’s going to give them some great ammo for when they’re sitting in the living room of a 5 star recruit.
