*Each athlete will receive $2,000 annually through a digital coupon called FastCash, which can be redeemed at any of the nearly 80 retailers at Nebraska Crossing, including brands such as Columbia Sportswear, Nordstrom, and Kate Spade.

*The partnership will provide name, image and likeness opportunities for the volleyball players to become “FastCash brand ambassadors.”

*The athletes will have opportunities to “learn and participate in the fintech industry typically not available to most college athletes.” In many cases, the athletes will work directly with the founders and owners of Nebraska Crossing and JustData.

*The two companies expect to provide new career possibilities for the volleyball players once their athletic career ends. JustData, for example, said it expects to hire about 200 new employees over the next two years for its sports operation.

Nebraska has 12 scholarship players on its volleyball team. That means each player would receive generally speaking about $42,000 annually.

That’s not all. All the players are clients of the 1890 Initiative, meaning they already have been receiving monthly benefits from the collective before this deal.
