That doesn't have to be the goal and that isn't the goal. The goal is bargaining power over media rights for money, and also academic research and grant money. Those are the only real goals at the end of the day, massive football fanbases of successful programs just serve one of those but aren't the goal in their own right.

BINGO       Ultimately it is about following the money.    The inclusion of Rutgers and Maryland the last time around was all about TV sets.  Now it is about streaming contracts

IF true, and doubt it, Warren would get points for turning Texas away, and lose points if he did the same to OU.

My Aggie friends have relegated themselves to the prospect that the train has left the station and Texas- OU is going to happen in the SEC. They are literally already in the acceptance faze. They aren't happy about it and in fact feel the move has been in the works and maybe even approved as long as 6 months ago. They even have some evidence that seems to point towards A&M leadership being supportive of the move behind the scenes for quite some time in order to be good SEC citizens and gather more cash. They are supposed to be good SEC citizens and suck it up. The Aggie anger is being directed to the A&M leadership in addition of course to the teasips.

There's no bylaw for this, there's only a gentleman's agreement that A&M isn't a part of.

Unless you've got a link to the bylaws that spells it out, it's a B.S. claim in my opinion. If it was in the bylaws, those would be accessible by journalists, and A&M having a very easy ability to cancel Texas joining would be being reported on.

Football drives expansion. Period. Not that what you mentioned doesn't matter, it does. There are a few schools, Notre Dame specifically, who meet all of thos goals.
