What in the heck is wrong with our offense?

Recommended Posts

At the end of the day, our offensive challenges have nothing to do with the players. it goes all the way to the top.

they spent the better part of fall camp playing misdirection with 4 supposedly talented running backs, only to trot out the youngest one, and then give the four talented running backs a total of *checks notes* 21 carries. against a newcomer to the B1G. in the first game of the season.

your QB can't find anything open in a house without doors, and won't set his feet for easy throws, yet you keep on calling complicated pass plays.

they pass when they need to run, and run when they need to pass. the situational awareness is terrible.

your supposed star 3-year center can't pick up a stunt, and tackles the running back sometimes.

stick with martinez as QB all you want, but there's no justification for not having a competent backup.

this is all about the head coach, the lack of attention to detail, the inability to recognize the situation, the inability to adjust, and the inexcusable inability to deploy and develop talent effectively.

this is all the head coach, folks. no one else.

We lack an identity.  What do we do well on offense?  Do we run the ball well?  Once in a while, but it is not something we can turn to for reliable results.  Do we throw the ball well?  Once in a while, but it is not something we can turn to for reliable results.

Once again, when NU needs to convert a key 3rd (or 4th) down, they turn to the QB run far too often.

We are told we've got 3 running backs that can could be the feature guy.  Who led the team in carries?  The QB.

We are told the receiver room looks like it is full of NFL prospects at WR and TE.  On the rare occasion they get free, our QB is liable to miss them.

The inconsistent o-line may be the underlying cause of all of it.  It prevents NU from having something in the took-kit they can consistently count on.  Like the OWH article said, it looks like NU's offense is just "Pick a play".

We are neither a rushing offense or a passing offense. Can't do either well enough to make the other team got out of a base defense.

Martinez has not progressed, throws off balance all the time, probably left at least one touchdown out there and multiple completions. every thing with him is a touch pass that is either 5 yards to long or 5 yards to short.

The line is big but does not fire off and hit anyone.

thought the defense played well but can't be out there that long and not wear down in the heat and humidity.

Scott said when he came hear he wanted players to come here and not be afraid of getting dog cussed, well it is probably time to start either dog cussing some of these players or sitting them.

The biggest mistakes of the day were made by your upperclassmen and team captains.

Frost. He's what's wrong.

If you state you have a NFL caliber TE and WR, you target them repeatedly. And who cares if the other teams knows, because unless they have NFL caliber guys in coverage you can count on your guy winning that battle. Then you develop your team off that.

Still don't understand what's with the rotation at WR and RB. If Rahmir was your guy you counted on in crunch time,  why didn't he start? And the scheme. Do you really think Hickman is better at this point than putting another WR in the game? And is your scheme more important than getting your best players on the field? We heard a lot about Betts, don't know if he was even targeted.

You then fire Austin because his o-line is getting whooped year in and out. And then you tell Verduzco to go.

It’s just not working.

give them 9 points and lose by 8

missed possibly two easy TD passes.

why can’t our WRs get open?

why can’t our RBs get yards?

did our RBs run more than 2 times outside the tackles?

there us something seriously wrong.

everything on offense just seems so hard for us and it shouldn’t be.

Why do people constantly say our receivers aren’t getting open.  Are people not watching the game?  Almost every play at least one or two receivers have a step on their defender but AM will not throw the ball.  And when they are actually wide open, he can’t hit them.
