Rumorville?

Recommended Posts

Thanks for the feedback xmanjones. I'll open a dialogue with the other moderators and admins.

I'm admittedly a bit more apprehensive about Rumorville than others. It presents several challenges i.e. people posting the same topics in Rumorville AND the football forum, people posting rumors we don't necessarily want the board associated with, or people posting anything and everything they've heard from anyone... which is rarely useful or accurate. It tends to become a bit of a Wild West playground. What we've leaned towards since Frost's hiring is a more leveled approach to Rumorville i.e. rumors can go in the football forum, but we tag the thread as a "rumor" and then funnel all conversation into there.

Anyways, we'll have a chat and follow up.

So what's the dealio? @Enhance @BigRedMax Are we bringing it back? Cuz I've been on the dark web, reading the Huskerboard from the updside down and I got some juicy stuff to share!

For now, I don't have a clear indication that Rumorville will make a return.

FWIW, there isn't a "no rumors" policy or anything like that. I think where we're leaning at the moment is if it's a big of enough deal then we will just tag the thread as "Rumor" unless it starts to become a problem. I would just encourage people to try to find a home for said rumor in an existing topic before trying to create a new thread.

For example, a rumor I heard over the weekend (from someone I know at KETV) is that there's a culture issue with the team right now specifically related to Frost 'trying to make things like it's the 90's' and making it too much of a focal point for the players. That, to me, is a safe rumor to discuss.

I would just suggest exercising caution and good decision making. Some rumors are not going to be allowed... specifically those that target a player or coaches' personal life in an overtly negative way and can not be verified by any reputable source. But, that was already the case when Rumorville existed.
