“Three days before visiting Kelly for a second time, members of the search committee drove to Orlando to meet with Frost on Thursday, Nov. 16, two days before Frost’s 9–0 Knights played Temple. They describe the interview with Frost as unimpressive, and they emerged with a similar feeling: He’s not ready for this big of a job.”

Frost was the hottest name in the cycle. Nebraska, his alma mater, was searching for a coach as well.

The Saturday morning call ended with Frost telling them he’d call back after he finished with a staff meeting.

“We are still waiting for his call,” snickers one committee member.

As for Frost, his homecoming at Nebraska has gone awry. He won 12 games in his first three seasons, is now under NCAA investigation and, many feel, is likely to be fired by Christmas.

Is this some sort of a surprise?  We've seen for 3 years that HCSF is going through on-the-job training and to think it was going to be anything but that, is simply not being realistic.  We are getting better (slowly) and HCSF is improving as well (slowly).  Will he ever get to the point where he is a good head coach?  Remains to be seen.  Same with the staff.

If only we slowly improved in the W/L to show we were getting better.

If "ifs and buts were candy and nuts".....

if the dog wouldn't have stop to take a s#!t, he would have caught the rabbit!

seriously, Frost was in a league with some poor HC's, so he just happened to shine.

he had the most speed in his conference and it carried him through.

In the 10 you need speed and size.

I can't speak to the validity of this story, but it's pretty well known UF offered Frost the position, and his insistence that he bring his entire staff from UCF was a sticking point for UF.

That's what I remember. Maybe just rumors?

I also remember reading that Spurrier was pushing hard for Frost, trying to get Stricklin to out-bid what Moos was offering. I remember thinking how GREAT it would be to beat the Ol' Ball Coach one more time. And we did. Life was great in December of '17. Getting Frost felt like winning a bowl game, even though the actual team was MILES away from bowl eligibility.

Reading this makes me want Frost to turn it all around. Even to give him more time. Make some changes in the coaching staff, and give the VERY young offensive line a couple more years in the offense to mature, maybe become the West Division leader, who knows.

Everyone wants Scott to turn it around. At a minimum there needs to be a change at the ST and O line coaching level. Who knows if he has the contacts or desire to bring in legit position coaches.

Scott looks beat down and miserable pretty much all the time and it doesn't look like he has the will to continue much longer.

As far as the O-line being young, as Rob Zatiscka pointed out on his podcast, most of those guys got playing time under their belts (some significant time) and in his estimation are not blocking to blow the other guy off the line, but more to open seams which may be what they are being asked to do vs not having the ability or talent.
