Man ... that Buffalo win was fun. We were up in the second half and the defense closed it for us. There was never a doubt in my mind through the fourth quarter that we were going to win. And that's a big deal. It hasn't happened a lot under Frost.

And now the bad news, the road ahead looks as rough as it could be.

Oklahoma, Michigan State, Michigan. Ohio State, Wisconsin and Iowa. All losses.

Just those losses has us at 5-7. Minnesota is on the road. And Northwestern gives us fits. Purdue. Certainly we can beat them. But a split of Minny and NW makes us 4-8. And Frost gets the door.

Good news though. And I really do believe this. Nebraska is going to hire a coach with experience who is a builder of programs. Not going to be flashy. Not going to be a big deal on the national scene. But we will see improvement right away. Eight or nine wins in 2022. Calling it now.

The schedule will be more manageable next year

Being on the hot seat on Huskerboard doesn't acralually mean much.

There are no certain number of wins Frost needs.

The Albert's hire was good for Frost and the two of them meet after every game

I saw an article that said he would be gone by Xmas I think that is bs who do you have lined up?

Remember, UF was waiting for Frost to call them back to see if he wanted the job.

They were not interviewing Frost, Frost was interviewing them.  What they were not impressed about was that he did not pick them.

He might not be good here but that doesn't mean he wasn't their first choice.

That is true. And no school ever says we hired/settled for our 2nd/3rd/4th….only choice.

Of course not.

You can't go back to 2017 and not say Frost was not the #1 choice for every school that had an opening.  He was, he just was.

UF courted him, Frost clearly was stuck with either staying at UCF or coming home and it was so clearly a hard choice for him.  If UF was unimpressed when they were trying to impress him it is because Frost, deep down, did not want that job.

Well that’s a pessimistic approach.   I think with our defense, we get to 6 wins and a bowl.  Frost makes some necessary and overdue changes and the “dreaming of a new coach “ crowd quiets down a bit.   Can someone please tell me why I’m wrong?

I hope you’re right but I just can’t see this team winning more than 4 or 5 tops this year. It takes a whole lot of hoping and if this improves and that improves to see it.  Things might get interesting with no bowl again and signs of improvement hard to come by.

Northwestern, Purdue and who? And those two are far from sure things. We have about two or three 50/50 games and then a bunch where we are going to have to play significantly better than anything this team has exhibited yet, or a couple opponents are really going to have to s#!t the bed, which once again is something we constantly fail to take advantage of.

I’m not dreaming of a new coach or really even desiring one. But man, the suck has to stop at some point.

That's where I am at.  If we get 6+ (no idea where they will come from) it will mean that collectively, in all 3 phases the team AND staff have turned the corner.  If not, I do not see next year being any better or different as is.

I also look at the rumors swirling last year about the bowl game.  D wanted to play O did not.  No idea what part if any was/is true, but it looks as though the D sawtheir potential and were looking at any chance to improve.  I think it also showed in all the guys that came back for one more shot.  I think the D sees the improvement and believes/trusts the process.  Not to sure the guys on O believe.....And it shows up in their play

We should be able to beat Michigan. MSU is beatable. Minnesota should be a win without RB1. And if we can put together any kind of offense Wiscy is a win. But we can f#&% all those up...

Are you being serious? I’ve watched 3 of those teams (not Wiscy) play this year. Those are 4  sure losses unless we do some extraordinary improving.

Michigan sucks. They are never as good as they look. Haven't really watched MSU, but the fans were skeptical about this season, and we always match up well with them. Minnesota is without their star player, we should win that game.

Wiscy sucks. We could eat their QB alive from what I've seen this year. It's probably going to be a lower scoring game (late November). We just need a couple TDs and make some field goals to win.

Nobody asked for it, but here's my take on the rest of the B1G schedule for us:

MSU -  It's hard to imagine that this wouldn't be winnable.  I'll call it a 50-50.  We'll see how they do against Miami.

NW - will have a good D like always, but it could be a major down year for their O.  First one to 20 wins this one?  I like our chances in Lincoln.

UM - Are they finally clicking this year?  Maybe.  If so, this one will be tough, but it is in Lincoln.  I"ll say winnable, but must play well.

Minny-  With Ibrahim out, there O got a lot less scary, but they are well coached.  Winnable, but again, must play well on the road (it happened at Purdue in '20).

Purdue - Who knows with Brohm.  He went from good coach to under achieving coach in a matter of a year or two.  Winnable as it's in Lincoln

Ohio St. - Vastly more talented, but Oregon exposed some issues they have.  I still don't see a Win here, though.  But we should play them tough.

Wisky - uninspiring offense, but likely good defense and special teams.  Winning in Camp Randall will be a tall order, although late in the season, who knows?

Iowa - Like Wisky, Top shelf D and ST, but unimpressive O so far.  We're due to knock off the Hawks.  And it's in Lincoln.

Assuming OU is a L, we need to at least split the rest.  Barring a major setback, I think it could and will happen.  If it doesn't, things may get tough for the staff.  Just my 2 cents.

I love the optimism.  But Minnie let fans suit up last year and they beat us.  Maybe they were rested from not playing in 2 weeks....I'd love to get 6+. I just dont see it.
