I really can’t believe this is a new Froster talking point.

good lord, we fired Bo for getting blown out…now we should be keeping Frost because it is about “More than winning”

You've admitted you're not going to enjoy the games if Frost is successful next year. Clearly you don't enjoy watching the team lose. Maybe you should go cheer for Bo? Where is he coaching again?

Wait until we get the "Martinez to return in 2022" thread

I'm fine with Martinez coming back.  But, I would love to see us try our best to go get a good QB to come in and compete.  And, an honest evaluation next year as to who the QB should be.  I'm fine if Martinez is 2nd string.  We saw this with the Vball team with Sun.  Very popular player but the coach tried other players.  She's had a great attitude as a backup.  No reason Martinez couldn't be the same.  If the new QB struggles or gets hurt, Martinez is experienced.

Austin obviously fired. Held probably fired. (I said a year ago that he's been like Keith Williams: big recruiting, small results on the field.) Verduzco probably the one that's retiring. Lubbick on the fence. Keep Beckton.

Does Frost bring in another QB coach, or does he start coaching them himself and bring in a dedicated special teams coordinator?

I keep seeing the idea that Frost should coach the QB's. I am assuming that is because of the obvious. That being said- Frost wasn't known for his passing acumen and performed in a completely different offense. Not sure he'd really be the best qb coach for mechanics, etc. That said, he seemed to do a great job with WR's in Oregon. Maybe have Beckton take on all the receivers and then Frost do WR specific drills when necessary.

Thinking about the $ of the situation, I think with COVID reducing $ in 2020, not having a full fan base in support of his firing (I think more fans think Frost should stick around), the Regents and President were more worried about firing Frost than keeping him around.  I think Trev probably could have fired Frost if it was truly up to him, but he will play the good soldier (with the Regents) for the time being.

Besides making assistant coaching changes I think the other thing that Frost will have to improve on that hasn't been discussed much is his in-game mangement decisions.

I agree, and additionally I would say he needs to improve:

  • Recruiting
  • Player Development
  • Play designs
  • Special Teams/Specialists

Otherwise, I think we're on our way here.
