I don’t care where they come from as long as they are good.

Last year, we had a transfer from a P5 school. That didn’t turn out well.

Meanwhile, our best WR was from Montana.

I don't disagree but what are the odds of getting 2 quality kickers from the same FCS school? Has Furman recruited superior specialist to us over the last 4 years? If so yikes. When we announcing our ST Coordinator?

Punts = 36

Averaged = 43.5

Longest = 69

Inside the 20 = 17

50+ = 5

FC = 15

Blocked = 1

If you saw that stat line, are you going to not be interested just because of what team they played for?

And, at this point, I really don't care if the ST coach isn't named for even a few months.  And, that would be no indication the staff is in turmoil like you seem to think at every turn.

The Field that fcs teams play on are identical to p5 fields…. His length and accuracy is the same regardless who he plays for or against.   It’s not like a punters opponent changes the ability of the kick…

Oh...and this kicker that must just be horrible because he came from an FCS team was also

Field goals = 16-18

Longest = 51

Over 40 = 4

Missed = 2 from 40 yards

Where did I say he was horrible? I was simply joking at the fact that we raided a single FCS team for kickers/punters. We literally took 2 from the same school. The fact that we identified that a FCS school has a better eye for kicking talent than we do isnt a good thing.

I think punters/kickers are a crapshoot.   I think it’s a lot of regional looks and kinda get lucky.   It seems most punter and kickers stick to the surrounding states they are from.

A number of fans seem to believe that success at this level is a matter of being fortuitous when in point of fact it is not.  Talent evaluation, personnel development, S&C, offensive / defensive philosophy, play calling, etc. are not a matter of the stars simply aligning.

Hope is appealing, but it is not a plan.  Too much is now riding on our ability to find tens of players in the transfer portal for a one season bonanza with the new offensive coaches.  While it would be great if this worked out, the odds point in a different direction...

This new transfer roster will have at most 8 months to stitch this together before game action in September.  In 2021, with a completely stable roster and staff, we had the same amount of time to prepare for Big Ten titan Illinois, and see the results...

When your program sucks as bad as ours does right now, change is never a bad thing. Not sure what exactly you are clamoring for.  If Frost does nothing and just rolls out again next year with Adrian at the helm and the exact same staff, he gets lambasted for the definition of insanity. He upends the turnip truck, he gets lambasted for all of the change. Change is the key to improvement when you area staring up from the bottom.

There are gaps to fill, but hypothetically if we got zero new players from the portal from what we already have committed, I'd still feel that this roster should win 7-8 games next year. The issue the last couple years has been more mental than physical.
