Purdy is also listed at 6'2" and 215 lbs.  That would be 20 pounds heavier than Smothers, and hopefully would make him more durable from a week to week basis.   I know he broke his collarbone, but I consider broken bones more "freak injuries" which can happen to any QB, regardless of size.

Running the QB is a terrible idea in the Big Ten.  Need backs to do that.

So much for the experienced QB and taking 2 huh?

Clearly I am missing what is telling, can you enlighten me please?

I think the staff strategically scheduled him to visit 1/14 before the classes start on the 1/18 to allow recruitment of a veteran. Purdy is all but N and likely would commit if his offer was committable right now, in my opinion.

I definitely want our QB running a lot less, and the I-backs to get more carries and be more effective. I just want the QB to be able to run on occasion.

Agreed. Being able to escape pressure and scramble is good. QB being the leading ball carrier is not a good idea, that's what I was going for.

Nebraska is the only visit he has scheduled, and classes begin in a couple weeks, so yeah. He's got four years of eligibility, though, so I could see us also taking someone with just a year or two.
