It does open up that spot to allow the coaching shifts to happen, but I wouldn't take losing him lightly. Per the source, the hiring is "a done deal", confirming a FootballScoop.com report on Tuesday evening which stated that he was Lanning's target to become the new defensive line coach. Dan Lanning was hired 8 days ago, and interviews would have happened at least a couple days after that. That doesn't quite line up timing wise to be the hold up.
