Nebraska to Gator Bowl, Could This Be Possible

3-9 sounds better than 3-10.  Good thing Frost won’t have to answer media ?s on turning down another bowl invite.    But 2 missing coaches and no QB would be a couple reasons along with the coaches and players being really tired after a long tough season. 
 

Maybe Vedral gets the bowl win and enters the transfer portal and comes back go DONU in his own, Frost like hero coming home?   Vedral would have been our #2 QB presumably so with AM out of the picture, Noah Vedral IS the most likely QB transfer yet available.   He can run any Whipple offense, including the “do what the defense doesn’t expect”, whatever that is.

i wouldn't be surprised to see more bowl game openings in the next 48 hours. are we even in position to field a competitive team? we have several key players going to the draft. i'd love to see smothers get another game in though. but haven't most players gone home for the holidays?

Well, it would be nice to see the Whipple machine in action right away so we won’t have to wait and argue non-stop for 8 mos about every possible aspect of it without a shred of evidence.  lol.  
 

Of course, we have trouble preparing with an entire off season, let alone just 48 hrs.  And you need to want to be in a bowl game too.

No.  Finals were last week and kids are now spread out all around the country.

 

Rutgers has finals this week, so all of their kids are still on campus.

Rutgers went 5-7 and have the academics.  They deserve it more.  If Nebraska wanted an undeserved bowl, they could have gone last year, but the majority of the offense voted no.

And many of the naysayers either moved on or contributed to the dysfunction we saw on the field. 

 

Really wish Frost would had put his foot down as a coach and said we were doing a bowl game, even if that meant we did so with a third string offense. We desperately need(ed) the reps.

Umm… game is just over a week away. Would take at least a day or probably 2 to get guys back on campus…. Another travel day down to Jacksonville… so, bringing everyone back, passing Covid protocols, having guy put on pads that have had more than a month off, bc winter conditioning hasn’t begun…..playing a game against a team that has been preparing…setting a group up for failure.. all for 4-5 practices and a little bit of $$ that has to be split…. And you question my logic…ok???

If a team gets an invite in this scenario do they really want to go with short notice. My guess is many would decline. There are several reasons why it wouldn't be practical. It might be workable for some.

Exactly. With all of the logistics, and being dormant for about a month, this makes absolutely zero sense, which is why, Nebraska, at 3-9 shouldn’t be considered.

The Rutgers game was 12/18 last year.  The bowl game would have been 7-10 days away.  I doubt anything of significance would have happened with an extra 4-7 practices where a lot of the team would have been just going through the motions.

I'm almost certain that the guys who would be practicing, prepping, traveling and changing all their plans would not be getting a penny of that $5 million paycheck.

 

If you're looking for warriors who will go into battle for our personal couch-watching pleasure, while subjecting themselves to the same COVID risks and protocols that brought down the team they're replacing, the Nebraska Cornhuskers are more likely to add to the frustration than relieve it. 

 

We had an entire college football season to get our reps. And that got us to 3-9.

 

As tantalizing as it sounds, I think a fresh start on a level playing field is preferable.
