Saw somewhere else is he leading the MVP race for the UFL. 23/36 for 368 yards this weekend. Only QB in the league with two 300 yard passing games. Good for him. Honestly, didn’t really think he was any good. Obviously had potential but I felt like he wasn’t capable of putting it all together. This could just be added to the growing list of Scott Frost “Accomplishments”. 2 Quote Link to comment https://www.huskerboard.com/index.php?/topic/96130-those-no-longer-with-us/page/43/#findComment-2649983

There are fewer really solid QBs in existence than people think. 1 2 Quote Link to comment https://www.huskerboard.com/index.php?/topic/96130-those-no-longer-with-us/page/43/#findComment-2650453

admo
Love seeing 2AM getting flowers and having success. Kid gave his best to Nebraska and was all class the entire time. He dealt with the hard questions after every game, regarding losing close games, turnovers, being benched and even got his degrees at UNL. Even though it didn't exactly turn out the way we hoped, he's still one of my all-time Husker favorites. 3 Quote Link to comment https://www.huskerboard.com/index.php?/topic/96130-those-no-longer-with-us/page/43/#findComment-2650742

As many of us said during his playing years, Martinez's success, or lack thereof, here had far more to do with the talent around him that it did his own. He had the worst line Nebraska has had since before Devany, no name running backs, and receivers that struggled to catch a ball. How many touch downs did Cade Warner drop? Martinez was the only reason we had so many one loss games under Frost, without him we would have looked like a MAC school out there, just as we did at the end of Riley's tenure. You remember him not being great because he had no room for error whatsoever. For us to win he literally had to be perfect every snap of every game. His 1-2 errors out of 75ish snaps seemingly cost the game because he was literally the only one who could win the game for us so if he wasn't perfect it didn't happen. I, for one, will always say Martinez was way better than most give him credit for and its good he's getting the chance to prove it. 5 1 Quote Link to comment https://www.huskerboard.com/index.php?/topic/96130-those-no-longer-with-us/page/43/#findComment-2652610

Let's not let revisionist history interfere with the fact that Adrian was also the source of many of his issues. For every scramble for a first down, there was a poorly thrown ball over the middle caught by JD, Wandale, and Luke before they got blasted by a safety or linebacker. Or an inexcusable turnover, often due to a poor decision. While Adrian did not have a lot to work with and several coaching decisions were poor, he had plenty of opportunities for success here. Unfortunately, our issues extended far and wide during the Frost years and the program just couldn't put it all together to make it work. That said, it is great to see him finding success and making a run to try and fulfill his professional football dreams. 1 1 2 Quote Link to comment https://www.huskerboard.com/index.php?/topic/96130-those-no-longer-with-us/page/43/#findComment-2653404
