Hmmm....when I was in my 20s and freshly out of college, I was like a lot of my friends who were getting married and looking for that....great place to raise a family.

Tell me how old you are with out really telling me how old you are :P

I think more and more young adults are waiting to start a family until they are in their late 20s or early 30s. I think it's pretty safe to say that a majority of kids out of college today are looking to make a go of it professionally, or "find themselves" existentially in some way before looking to settle down and start a family. Or maybe they just want to party their asses off!

What does Nebr have that can outdo Beaches Galore. SPRING BREAK TO THE MAX.

I've been to Omaha many times and have lived in Lincoln. I grew up in Nebr.

I now reside just south of Tampa. In Tampa alone you have the Bucs, Lightning, and Rays. Orlando just 1 hr from Tampa you have the Magic. This is just to name a few. You get the best concerts all year long. You have some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. You can also go deep sea fishing. You have party bars everywhere. Let's not forget, For The Single College Guys, You get a NEW influx of Young Women Every week coming to the beaches. There is so much more to list.

I lived a good portion of my life in the midwest. There isn't that much to do there. Yeah, you can say hunting and fishing, or possibly the Casinos.

The best place I lived in the midwest was Sturgis. Now, that's a town that knows how to party, but it only lasts for 3 weeks, at most. They do get great bands in the bars and at the Chip, but what else is in the midwest.

I will always bleed RED. Nebr needs to start coaching up their recruits. Sending more players to the NFL. That, I believe is our ticket to getting more High School recruits to look at us.

That's why we need a big-name coach that elite recruits that kids will want to come to Lincoln to play for. I thought Frost would be the answer, and I'm still willing to stick by him, but if not, and we're serious about reviving the program, we gotta throw the bank at a big name.

How many "big name" coaches are out there?  5?  10?

I don't know that answer but just asking.

And many other schools have the ability to throw big.....maybe bigger.....bank at them.

You're literally saying Nebraska has more money than any school out there.

I might be wrong, but with the B1G getting this 1.1 Billion dollar deal for tv or whatever, I am sure that will give NU some money.  I am assuming we will need a new men's BB coach after this season so that might take some cash.  But I do feel like we have the money.

I still feel Frost's security has nothing to do with a specific W-L record so I feel he will be here through through 2023. So I do not anticipate having to buy him out.  He turns this ship around, dude deserves a long term contract....Because that will will be coach of the century stuff.

We have money.

As does most everyone else.

Do I think Nebraska offers  Lincoln Riley, Mel Tucker or Brian Kelly money?

Nope

But I also agree Frost will be around a while anyway.

As it relates to coaches and salary, since NIL is now a free for all (A&M paying close to $30 million for their class), can boosters now pony up a bonus in the amount of "X $" to get a coach to a school?  IIRC, boosters have provided houses for coaches and USC payed off (bought) both of Riley's houses in OK as part of contract.  Might as well allow recruitment to be year round with no dead periods...

I think they already do. When a coach is fired it is the boosters that pony up for the buy-out cash. No reason they can't contribute to the new coaches salary. Maybe they can't pay directly but there is no reason they can't come to a private arrangement with the AD that if coach XXXXX is hired they will make a yearly contribution of $X,000,000.00 to the athletic dept. with the understanding it will go to supplementing the new coaches salary.

I didn't say that at all. However, we do have the $ to spend on a big-time coach. You act like every other big-time school will be looking for a new coach at the same time we are. If you want to compete with the elite programs, you've gotta be willing to pay what the elite programs are paying.

Yes, I believe every year now there will be big time schools looking for.....or nowadays bidding for.....a new coach.

Do we really know whether or not we haven't already tried this?  Most of the coaching searches were fairly private.  Do we actually know that we haven't already been down this road?  Frost was highly sought after.  At the time, didn't we all believe we paid for a new coach to compete against elite programs?

After reading through the thread about the B1G becoming the first billion $ conference, I find myself in the minority.  I don't in any way shape or form see how that is going to make our football program better or more competitive.  We already have or are in the process of building as good of facilities if not better than most other programs.  We already according to the rankings recruit as well if not better than most of the programs in the B1G.  I might be wrong, but I don't believe Lincoln Riley left OU for USC because of the money.   I also don't believe Brian Kelly left Notre Dame for LSU because of money.

Great question.  Who really knows if we went after Coach X and threw insane money at him.  There were the rumors of Cally being like our 3rd or 4th (last?) choice after firing Frank.  Unsure about the search for Bo (a fan fave at the time), Riley was a joke that most had to google and simply a hire to hand out Werther's caramels and ice cream instead of a$$ chewings, Frost was a no brainer fan fave and coach of the year (but did he have a lot of offers?).  BUT did we ever really shoot for the moon on a proven guy?  I don't know.

Too Riley, it will be much easier to win the Pac 12 and play in the playoffs than winning in the SEC....He took easier schedule 1st (IMHO) and the perks/money 2nd......Kelly no idea.  He got an insane amount of money.
