Apathy
I’m ok with this. Would’ve been hypocritical to keep Frost but fire Hoiberg when both have nothing to show for especially Frost who’s got an extra year under his belt than Fred at Nebraska 4 Quote Link to comment

At least in football it appears as though there's effort on the part of both players and coaches, even if it's not working. In basketball Fred's team barely appears to try. They're one of the worst teams in the country. This is probably the erst team in program history, which is saying a lot. Fred deserved to be fired and it's extremely obvious he has absolutely no chance to get things to work. This is a money saving move, plain and simple. 3 1 Quote Link to comment
admo
The double dip. I like it. Or, I'm okay with it. Quote Link to comment

Both guys have been horrible with Frost having the worst win percentage since the 1950s. The ultimatum from Alberts forced Frost to make some much needed changes and I am actually now excited for his 5th season. Perhaps this approach will work for Hoiberg too. Quote Link to comment

Therefore I wouldn't necessarily consider it to be hypocritical to do one without the other. Football plays 22 + specialists and has many more moving parts to figure out. Basketball plays five and turnover in the sport has been the norm for several years. So although Frost has an extra year, his team has also shown much more promise of going in the right direction. Basketball has looked like a JV squad in far too many games this season, despite a highly touted incoming class. The clear regression in effort has been most disheartening given the better talent than in years past on the court. I hope this offseason will be a good reflection time for Fred and he reevaluates the entire program from who is on the bench with him, the type of players he brings in and the playing style he pushes. He's smart for sure, the key will be whether or not he's stubborn or too loyal for effective changes. Quote Link to comment
admo
If I'm Hoiberg, I'd make this team a "run-n-gun" fun team. Full throttle. The most fast paced team in the B1G. Channel the Loyola-Marymount and Florida-Gulf Coast days. Fans love points and knocking down shots. Huskers team would be 3's or layups, plus fast breaks. Push the ball better than anyone has seen in this league. All it takes is basketball stamina, a bench/substitutions, lots of shooters, mentality of hitting 3's, tipping rebounds out, some picks, a few passes, and pushing it coast to coast. Yeah, it might not sustain after 3 or 4 years. But what a helluva fun ride. And maybe you start getting better shooting recruits. Huskers beat Illinois 109-87... Huskers beat Iowa 132-87... Huskers beat Michigan 114-91 Call me crazy, but that's what I would do. And somebody even pointed out recently, the Huskers have a pretty good record when they are the first to score 70 (in a game). Make it fun!. Make it fast paced! Make PBR an exciting place to see a basketball game on speed, and the fans would get behind it and sell it out (plus concessions). Quote Link to comment
